My Place in Canadian History

  • Period: to

    Residential Schools

Residential schools were designed to “civilize” the indians and to get rid of their religion, heritage and culture. I choose this because it relates to how my familys culture was put at stake. In my family, culture and religion are one of the most important things. Like the first nations when they immigrated it was difficult to "fit in". It is important that each and every Canadian understands the situation and consequences in order to prevent this again. This is an ashamed part of our history.

Universal Health care meant that all people would have equal access to medical care. Everyone can receive health care paid by the government, no matter where they live in the country and no matter how much money they have. It is an imprtant part of our Canadian history, becasue it has helped many of citizens, and immigrants. It has help shape Canada to what it is today. It is especially important to my family, because it helped us through otherwise catastrophic times.
  • D-day(Quote #11)

    D-day(Quote #11)
June 6, 1944 Wws when the allied forces invaded Normandy. The Canadians invaded Juno beach where there was 10 kilometers of exposed beach and the Germans were well prepared, and the Bombers and naval guns had not managed to take out the German defences. This was an important part of our Canadian history as it demonstarted strength, courgae and the morals of being a Canadian. This is important to my family becasue it helps us appreciate our freedom, unlike in Pakistan where conflict is common.
