INTRODUCTION
The term 'media' refers to the various means of communication utilized to transmit information, ideas, and entertainment to a wide audience. Its development can be traced from primitive carvings on walls to the sophisticated digital landscape we now know as the internet. The following timeline outlines my personal usage of different types of media from my youth up to the present day. -
Television
Television or TV is a popular way to watch shows and movies, giving us entertainment and showing us different ideas and cultures, which can influence how we see the world. Since I was young, it helped me entertain myself and watch cartoons and shows I enjoy, which served as a break or me-time for me. As I got older, it also helped me get knowledgeable and aware of what's happening in my surroundings through watching the news. TV was a huge help for me growing up. -
Computer
A computer is an electronic device that processes data and performs tasks based on instructions given to it. It is used for a wide range of purposes, including browsing the internet, creating documents, playing games, and running various applications. We had a computer in our home and one of my memorable moments was playing computer games with my mother and/or brother. There was also a computer shop near our house where I would sometimes follow my brother to watch what he's doing. -
Print Media (Coloring Books)
A coloring book is a book with pictures that can be colored in using crayons or colored pencils, making it a fun and creative way to express yourself. Whenever my sister got home from college, she would gift me a coloring book, it became my favorite. It was fun and entertaining to do. -
Radio
Radio is a device that plays music, news, and talk shows, keeping us entertained and informed through sound waves, anytime and anywhere. I remember when I was a kid playing with our big radio whenever I was bored. Aside from the actual audio dramas and music, I was also entertained by the many buttons on it. -
Cellphone
A cellphone is a basic mobile device primarily used for making calls and sending text messages. I got my first cellphone when I was in elementary, it was a hand-me-down from my father, to my siblings, to me. It helped me to contact my mother when I was going home, when I need something, or what we were cooking for dinner. It also provided a bit of entertainment through a game called snake. -
Tablet
A tablet is a flat, portable device with a touchscreen interface that can be used for tasks such as browsing the internet, watching videos, playing games, reading e-books, and running various applications, providing a versatile and convenient way to consume media and access information on a larger screen than a smartphone. I got my own personal brand new device when I was in grade 4, as I moved up from grade 3 at the top of my class. It was precious to me, and I used it for a long time. -
Internet
The internet is a global network of interconnected computers and devices that allows users to access and share information, communicate with others, and engage in various online activities. I first used it when I got my tablet. It was like unlocking a whole new world. There were so many things I can do and to this day, it lends me a huge hand and it is now a big part of my life. It makes everything convenient and efficient. -
Google
Google is a company known for its search engine, which helps people find information on the internet. Google is very helpful and I've been using it since the first time I've known about it. It is very useful and helpful in navigating the internet. -
Print Media (Books)
Books are materials containing written content, such as stories, information, or ideas. They are typically composed of pages bound together and are used for reading, learning, and entertainment. This is the year I truly became interested in books as I started reading more and more, mostly fictional stories. It is very entertaining to dive into different stories and lives. Reading books became a kind of a stress reliver for me. -
Social Media
Social media refers to online platforms and websites that enable users to create and share content, interact with others, and connect with friends, family, and communities. I started to create my social media accounts to stay connected from my elementary friends and to keep connected with my new friends. It was also a big help in helping me do my schoolworks in highschool. -
Smartphone
A smartphone is a small, portable device that can do lots of things, like make calls, send messages, take pictures, browse the internet, and use apps. It's like a mini-computer that fits in your pocket. It's a very useful device not only for school but also for my everyday life. Taking photos, browsing information, and gaming are all easier to do. -
Chromebook
A Chromebook is a laptop that runs on Google's Chrome operating system. It's designed mainly for browsing the internet and using online apps. It was a gift and has been useful for doing my schoolworks. It's like a laptop and it makes it easier to do tasks that I would normally do in the computer. It's portable which makes it convenient to use.
