I was born on April 16, 1836 in Galway, Ireland. I have lived there since I was 14. My father and i hope to get more wealth and be able the help are family. Are family was having a hard time finding jobs back home. So some of us left to earnmoney to surport us. We would take any job that we could. If we had to we would take more than one job at a time. -
Leaving to go to U.S.A
My father and I left Ireland to go to the U.S to seek new opportunities. I spent all of my savings on just to get a ticket. When sailing to the U.S. I could taste the sea salt in the air along with the horrible stench of peoples durty bodies. All I could seein either direction was nothing but water. -
Arriving to U.S.A
Other arriversWe finally arrived to Ellis Island. I got taken from my father, so we can get examined.They touched me all over to see if I had any diseases. Thier cold hands gave me the shivers. I was okay to go into the U.S., but I culdn't find my father. I waited for hours as the sun crept away from the sky. I had to keep on going. -
One of my worst mistakes
I thought i would be happier in this day. I just reliezed that this marriage isn't about the love. I did it for the money. I don't know why, but i don't love him. I love his money. It was very quiet. I not certain if I should go through with it. I started crying and ran out, and didn't return. -
Running for my life
Other witnessesI'm so terrified. I never would of thought I would be running for my life. I'm so tired it has been days since the last time i slept, butif i stop now i'm going to get caught. My old boyfriend sent a few of his men out for me. I'm going back home tobe with my family again. I just have to keep quiet till I get on the boat. Finally have had it to the boat and going to be safe as a cub with its mother. -
On my way home
I thought I had escaped; I thought it was all over. One of the men were waiting for me on the boat. They knew i would try to go home. I was in the coner when I got pulled away from the crowed I was trying to fight them off, but they were too tuff. I didn't know what to do. I got hit on the head very hard. What came next I can't be sertained. Everything around me was a blur and the world slowly turned black. I woke up in severe pain. I didn't know where I was. I was so confused.
