I was born in Highland Park, IL at 1:33PM. I was 19in and 8lbs.

I went to Park View for preschool and kindergarten. It was a really neat way to begin my education career because everything I did was at my own pace and on my own time. I remember having some really cool teachers there.

St. Paul Lutheran School, Mt. Prospect, ILIn 1st gradae I moved schools. I am so happy my parents made this decision because St. Paul had a lot of wonderful opportunities academically and with extra curricular activities. I was able to play volleyball, basketball, and run track in my time there.

In 4th grade I bought a guinea pig named Gigi. A few months later, she ended up giving birth to 4 babies. I got to keep one of them and named her Ziggy. They were so much fun, and I had them for 7 years!

State 08 Triple jump is my favorite event in track! I've been doing it ever since then. In 8th grade, 2 years later, I placed 4th at the state competition!

St. Paul was a really small school, only 200 total kids enrolled. So after being in class with the same 20 kids for 8 years we became a family. I made some lifelong friends there. I'm the one in dead center of the picture.

I had the amazing opportunity my junior year of high school to go to the Dominican Republic and serve the people of Consuelo for a whole week! We laid cement floors for 10 houses, and installed electricity in 8 others as well as played with all of the local children. It was truly a life changing experience and I look forward to more in the future.

Since triple jump is my favorite event, I was more than ecstatic when I qualified for the state competition my junior year of high school. It was an awesome experience competing there, even though I didn't actually perform all that well. This was the year my dad also started officially volunteering to coach at my high school as well. He'd been coaching me on the side ever since I learned how to triple jump and is my biggest supporter to this day.

I had the opportunity to participate in the Spanish exchange program through Prospect my senior year of high school. For one week in the fall a student from Barcelona, Spain came to live with us in Chicago then in the spring we go to go to Spain and live with them. The girl I lived with is pictured here, Bea. She was such a sweetheart and it was so fun to get to know her. We still stay in touch and I can't wait to return to Spain some day!

Sadly I barely missed qualifying for state in the triple jump my senior year, but our 4x1 relay team did qualify! That was really exciting to run in such a competitive environment and with a fast team!
-
I am very thankful for the positive high school experience I had a Prospect. I had great challenges academically and I was able to continue competing in track and volleyball all 4 years. I met my best friends there too. I'll always miss it. Here is a picture of both of my parents and I after the graduation ceremony. It was outside, and rained the entire time...

This week long trip up to Canada was part of Calvin's Wilderness Orientation. Before the real orientation for freshmen, a bunch of groups went all over the US and hiked, biked, climbed, or kayaked around in nature. It was an unforgettable experience that can really push you to your wits end when you are removed from civilization.

More about me!I am so happy I made the decision to come to Calvin. It was very hard at first to adjust being away from all of my friends back home and in an entirely different state but the experience has been worth it.

[My College Track Results](<a href='http://www.tfrrs.org//athletes/4676478/Calvin/Carissa_Weis.html)' >My Results in College</a> I am so lucky to be able to continue jumping at Calvin. I finished out my freshman season by placing in both the long jump (4th) and triple jump (2nd)! I love this team!
