My Life

  • Moving from Fieldstone Pond to Enoch Crosby

Moving from Fieldstone Pond to Enoch Crosby
At just three years old, my parents decided to move our family into a house rather than a condo. I was super excited and even though it was 14 years ago, I remember some of the larger details. I remember that most of my excitement came from the fact that me and my brother were going to have bunk beds in our new house and share a room. I also remember that our new house had a brand new playset and that's what I was the most excited for.
  • Getting my dog, Bayli

    Getting my dog, Bayli
My older sister, Mackenzie, always wanted a dog. She had been begging my parents for a dog ever since she was 8 and my parents finally gave in when she turned 12. We got a golden retriever and named him Bayli. We picked Bayli up from a local breeder where we had our pick from 6 little puppies. We got the best one! On the 10 minute drive home from the breeder, Bayli peed twice on my sisters lap. We still have Bayli today and he turned 13 about two months ago.
  • Moved Schools from St. Lawrence to St. Josephs

Moved Schools from St. Lawrence to St. Josephs
When I was in first grade, the school that I went to which was St. Lawrence had been required to close. When I heard this news, I was bummed. I liked St. Lawrence and was happy there. I started looking for schools over the summer and found St. Joseph's which was a similarly sized school in Croton Falls. I had to adapt to a new school and the hardest part was making new friends. However, after a week or two in the school, I had found a new group and was happy.
  • My Grandpa passed away

    My Grandpa passed away
My Grandpa was a huge part of my life in the eight years I had with him. I remember that he always took me to the workshops that Home Depot would put together. He would pick me up on Sunday mornings and me and my brother would go to Home Depot and learn how to build little things such as bird houses, tool boxes, etc... It was one of our favorite things to do as kids. A few days after I turned 8, he was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma, a type of cancer. He died later that year.
  • Moved Schools from St. Joseph's to Brewster

Moved Schools from St. Joseph's to Brewster
After third grade at St. Joseph's, the number of students enrolled at the school had plummeted causing the school to close. I was sick of schools closing right as I settled in. I decided to move to public school. The move I had wanted to make two years before before my parents intervened telling me I had to go to private school. The change to Brewster was very easy though, not like my previous experience. I had already known kids in Brewster because of the town sports I played.
  • Quitting my first passion

    Quitting my first passion
My favorite thing to do as a kid was play basketball. I played on CYO, rec and club teams. When I went into freshman year of high school, reality in my b-ball career had set in. I wasn't very good. I tried out for the JV team and made it, however, I sat the bench all year long. I realized that being on the bench every game killed me and I either had to improve or I wasn't trying out as a sophomore. I didn't get any better and I decided to quit after my freshman year had come to an end.
  • My first job- Ski Haus

    My first job- Ski Haus
I got my first job about two years ago at Ski Haus. Having a job changed my lifestyle a lot. I went from having everything given to me by my parents to me paying for some of my own expenses. This job also gave me incentive to manage my money and save it as much as I could which I think is very important. I learned many things as a salesman for Ski Haus. I learned how to communicate with people and how to sell them on something. It's not an easy skill, but I think that Ski Haus taught me a lot.
  • Failing my road test twice

    Failing my road test twice
After I failed my road test, I was devastated. I wanted my license more than anything. To me, having my license meant freedom. After I failed once, I felt like a failure. After I failed the second time, I had wanted to give up. My license wasn't worth the stress and failure that this test was giving me. After I had taken my third drivers test, I talked to the instructor and when he told me I had passed, I was surprised and super relieved. The stress of this test was taken off my shoulders.
  • My brother leaving for Penn State

My brother leaving for Penn State
My brother, Brendan, and I are best friends. We shared a room for six years of our life and did almost everything together. I didn't realize how much of a change it would be when he shipped off to college. I no longer had a best friend in the house with me that would drive me everywhere and do everything with me. This was a huge change for me and my family not having my brother home. However, he loves school and I have visited him a couple times since he has gone to school.
  • National Honors Society Induction

    National Honors Society Induction
Junior year I was invited to apply for the National Honors Society. I knew this was a prestigious award and I wanted to become a member of it. I filled out a tedious packet that had an essay and many letters of recommendation along with some other things. I handed it in and waited a couple of weeks for the results to come back. When I found out that I was accepted into the society, I was extremely proud of myself. I felt that all my hard work in high school had paid off.
