When my father died in 1925, my mother started running the family photography studio. On "the night of broken glass" we were in the studio making id cards for Jews.
-
My mother and I were deported to a concentration camp on the France/ Spain border.
-
Someone told me that there was a Pastor in Le Chambon that was working to get children out of camps.
-
The workers talked to my mother, and unlike many mothers who wanted to keep their children with them, my mother sent me to Le Chambon so I could have a better life.
-
I love my new freedom, but the German roundup groups are coming this way and the Pastor sent me to a farm to stay safe at.
-
Early this year I was able to escape to Switzerland!
-
I met Max Liebmann at Gurs and got married this year.
-
I finally moved to America with my husband and my daughter. We were so glad.
-
Max and Johanna are still alive and live in New York.
