My Exposure to Traditional and New Media timeline

back, I remember myself singing along to the theme song of Remi entitled, "Aking Ina" which is about the greatness of a mother's love. With that beautiful message, my mother used to always asked me and my sister to sing that song for her. I would say that these tv shows were able to influence me in becoming a good daughter, even as a kid.

According to Varghese (2014), television as a mass medium has been able to influence people and disseminate the message of development and modernization to create awareness generating public information.
In relation, one of the most influential mass medium I'm exposed to when I was a kid is television. One of my favorite cartoons include cartoons like Princess Sarah and Remi. Looking

A newspaper is a serial publication containing news about current events, other informative articles about politics, sports, arts, and advertising.
I started reading newspapers when my mother was preparing me for school. Aside from Abakada, my mother also used my father's old newspapers in teaching me how to read. Back then, I didn't know that what I'm reading were news on current events.

A magazine is a periodical publication containing a variety of articles, generally financed by advertising and/or purchase by readers. Personally, I used to read magazines such as Reader's Digest and National Geographic when I was a kid. It started when my sister encouraged me to read the magazines at home for me to widen not just my knowledge, but also my vocabulary.

Due to its size and power requirements, a desktop computer is r designed for regular use at a single location. Back then, I used the desktop computer for entertainment by playing games.

A mobile phone is a portable telephone that can make and receive calls over a radio frequency link while the user is moving within a telephone service area.
My sister gave me her old phone, so that I can contact my family members in case of emergency.

Skype is an instant messaging app that provides online text message and video chat services. Users may transmit both text and video messages, and may exchange digital documents such as images, text, and video. Skype allows video conference calls. With this app, I was able to communicate with my family abroad. Unlike in mobile phones, I was able to see what the're doing while talking to me. With them being far from me, the use of skype somehow lessens my feeling of loneliness.

Google is a popular Web search engine that says it offers search access to over three million Web documents in over 30 languages.
During grade school, most of my assignments require cut-out pictures and some research on certain topics. Since my previous school doesn't have a library, google helped me a lot in studying and doing my assignments.

"Facebook enables users to connect with others by sharing status updates, personal photos and other items of interest," (Lynch, 2017).
Faking my age, I was able to create my Facebook account. Before, I only used this app to play games. But now, I can say that I am a literate user of this media. For instance, as the Filipino coordinator of our class, I used this app to inform my classmates on the important details regarding the subject by posting announcements on our group.

Twitter is an online news and social networking service where users post and interact with messages, "tweets", restricted to 140 characters.
I only made a twitter account to be updated with the school's important announcements such as the suspension of classes. Although I know for a fact that I can use it in voicing out my opinion on a certain issue, I still feel uneasy sharing my thoughts, especially if I know that what i'm saying is not logical or supported with evidence.

Instagram is a photo-sharing application and service that allows users to share pictures and videos either publicly or privately.
Since I easily get conscious sharing the events in my life through words, I created an account on Instagram so I can just post a photo and captioned it with a few words.

Snapchat is an image messaging and multimedia mobile application in which pictures and messages are only available for a short time before they become inaccessible. Compared to Instagram, Snapchat enabled me to share photos more privately with my chosen recipients. In here, I can share photos even the funny ones, to my friends without the fear of being criticised.

YouTube is a video-sharing app which allows users to upload, view, rate, share, add to favorites, report, comment on videos, and subscribe to other users.
During the vacation of this year, I became interested in doing DIY crafts. In doing so, I watched tutorials on Youtube.

ooVoo is a video and messaging app which allows users to communicate through free messaging, voice, and video chat. ooVoo video conferencing technology enables high-quality video and audio calls with up to twelve participants simultaneously, HD video and desktop sharing.
In communicating with my sisters abroad, we switched from Skype to oovoo since it has better features. One of which is that it enables video calls with many participants.

I was able to use WordPress since it was required in one of our subjects. I posted a blog on it, and in doing so, I made sure that I did not plagiarise somebody else's work.

Edmodo enables teachers to share content, distribute quizzes, assignments, and manage communication with students, colleagues, and parents.

This year wasn't the first time I got exposed to Edmodo, but this was the year when i was able to use it effectively. When I had a long absence and had to communicate with my teachers, I used this app instead of messaging them through text. Aside from its suitable learning features, it is a more formal way of connecting with teachers.

Google Sites is a structured wiki- and Web page-creation tool offered by Google as part of the G Suite productivity suite. The goal of Google Sites is for anyone to be able to create a team-oriented site where multiple people can collaborate and share files.
Although creating a webpage is a school requirement,I will use this opportunity for me to share my ideas and opinions in a more conducive learning environment.
