My Ever Changing Life Experiences

  • Period: to

    Prenatal Development & Birth

  • Birth

I was born on August 26, 1990 weighing in at 8 lbs, 5 oz. I was a full term baby, born at 40 weeks. My birthweight was within the normal range. There were no complications with the birthing process or myself.
  • Period: to

    First Two Years

  • Biosocial - Breastfeeding

I was breastfed by my mother for only four months due to the fact that she had to go back to work.
  • Psychosocial

I was comfortable around family members. My grandma, and 2 of my aunts would look after me while my parents were at work.
  • Biosocial - Walking

I began taking my first steps at an early age of 9 months.
  • Cognitive - Speaking

I began uttering words around 13 months of age.
  • Period: to

    Early Childhood

  • Biosocial

I did not like to drink milk as a child. I would cry all the time and would even develop red lines after drinking it and was a very skinny chld.
  • Psychosocial - Preschool

I was a very quite and shy child. I used to cry everyday on the ride to preschool and would sit by myself on a big rock on our playground, waiting for my parents to pick up my siblings and myself. I stopped crying when my brother was placed in the same classroom as me.
  • Cognitive - reading

In first grade I absolutely loved to read, especially the books that my teacher would let me take home to read. I would check out new books from my teacher as well as the library all the time.
  • Period: to

    Middle Childhood

  • Cognitive

As a child, my strengths were in reading and reading comprehension, not math. I remember one day studying hard for a math test because I knew it was going to be hard. When our teacher was giving us our math tests back a few days later, she announced to everyone in the class that I was the only one to get 101% on the test. Everyone clapped for me as I walked up to grab my test. I can't explain to you how happy that day made me feel. I now actually really enjoy math!
  • Psychosocial

I was best friends with a girl all thoughout elementary school. When 6th grade started, she started ignoring me within the first two weeks of school. She wanted to be friends with girls who were more popular so she could also be more popular. It was a tough time for me, starting a brand new school and osing my best friend who then went on to making fun of me. It made me realize that good friends are hard to come by.
  • Biosocial

In 6th grade, I noticed that I coudn't read the board in class anymore and never told my parents. While taking a physical before trying out for volleyball, I failed the eye exam, big time. I cried my eyes out because I was so embarrassed to wear glasses. Middle school was such a hard time and wearing glasses just made it seem even worse. I felt like a huge dork having to wear them.
  • Period: to

    Adolescence

  • Biosocial

My aunt, who still has an eating disorder, made me feel awful about my body weight, even though I only weighed 100 lbs. I started running a lot and hardly ate anything, which resulted in me losing some weight. I eventually got over that within a year.
  • Psychosocial

I had my first boyfriend when I was 16 years old; it lasted 3 years.
  • Cognitive

At 17 years old, I graduated high school and started my college education at MSU.
  • Period: to

    Emerging Adulthood

  • Biosocial

In college, I developed good eating and exercising habits. I participated in lots of races and decided to major in nutrition.
  • Cognitive

I graduated from MSU with my bachelors of science
  • Psychosocial

I moved back home to live with my parents after college.
  • Period: to

    Adulthood

  • Cognitive

If I start Physician Assistant school next year, I will be a PA when I am 26 years old. I hope to have a successful and satisfying career where I am able to continue to expand my knowledge.
  • Psychosocial

I hope to get married before 30, hopefully to my current boyfriend!
  • Biosocial

I hope to have children when I am in my 30s.
  • Biosocial

I hope to still be happily married while entering into late adulthood. I also hope to have good relationships with my children, grandchildren, other family members, and friends.
  • Period: to

    Late Adulthood

  • Cognitive

Although I had to admit it, I am more likely than others to develop Alzheimer's. My grandfather had it as well as most of his siblings and his mother. Therefore, by the age of 75 I may see more of a decline in my memory than other adults my age.
  • Psychosocial

I hope to continue being active and involved with my community and friends as I age. I would like to attend local events such as farmers markets and community service. Also, my grandmother has an ipod and goes for a 2 mile walk everyday with it and she is 85 years old! I hope to be the same as her someday.
  • Death

I hope to die at the age of 88. For some reason that has always been my favorite number so I hope to make it to that age only if I am in good health. I hope to have a painless death, in my sleep would be ideal (like my great grandfather). Although it is far in the future, i would hope that whatever disease causes my death I would be accepting of it and be thankful that I had the opportunity to live.
