Earliest Memories of Reading and Writing
When I was in Pre-k, my older brother was in Kindergarten. My mom would always sit us down in front of her teacher easel to do his homework, and I would just follow along with what they were doing. I was able to test and skip kindergarten at the end of that year.

UIL: Art memorization and poem reading!
This is probably the only "good" memory I have on elementary school. I loved completing in UIL events, and this is where I first started to really have a connection with history all together.

  • High School Journalism

    High School Journalism
Really found my passion for writing in my sophomore year of High School in my journalism class. Ms. Hardy taught me how to really capture my ideas onto the page.
  • Geology Major

    Geology Major
Engineering was my first plan (runs in the family), then I fell in love with rocks and geology. I love being out in nature and being able to identify different rocks and formations. I actually interned at Ink's Lake State park for the entire summer in 2015. Then I had my son, and I didn't want to go into a career field that was all about traveling, so I found my passion for teaching!

    Reading and Singing to HH
I have always just talked to HH even when he was a newborn. Nowadays, he loves sitting in my lap to read books. He learns songs at daycare and comes home to teach me them. He just learned how to draw circles!
