Beacuse my family had little money, i had to ride in the third class. The journey was hot and stuffy.

Beacuse i am greek, th ehealth expecters looked at me more clossly than at other poeple.

Since i had just moved to america, i had to find work so i could move to California. I decided to work in a flower shop located on main street. The owner was more than happy for the help and willing to pay me at the same time. I worked there for about two years, saving up my money as i went along.

Since i have earned just enough money to pay for a train ticket to California, i choose to quit my job and take the journey.

Since the people in charge didnt want to hire any chinese immigrants, they had plenty of work for me to do.

Since America was still a working progress, I had to work for 15 hours with only a lunch break which was only 30 minutes.

Becasue the mines were so small, I had to bend over all day long and that messed up my back for the rest of my life.

Beacuse miners were underground, big chunks of coal fall every now and than. One day a big chunk of coal feel, nearly missing me, but saddly kissing the person who got hit.

Since i have been working in th emines for 10 years now, I have safed up a good amount of money to send back to my family.
