    Time for a Change
My boyfriend informed he would be moving to Buffalo, New York to go to grad school. He wanted to go alone so he could "focus on his studies." I was devastated!
  • Roommates

    Roommates
After her divorce, my sister, Marci, was looking for a roommate to share expenses. She asked if I wanted to move into her home outside of Albany, NY. I had never lived anywhere but Montana, so I jumped at the chance to move out east!
  • Hit the Road

    Hit the Road
My friend Heather and I set off to drive across the country. My cat, Jazz, was wedged between all my possessions in his carrier. Meanwhile, my boyfriend was driving his car to his new home - away from me!
  • Arrival!

    Arrival!
After 3 days of driving, Heather and I finally made it to my sister's house. It was such a relief to be done traveling. Jazz was especially happy to be free again!
  • The Big Apple

    The Big Apple
My friend needed to catch a ride to her mom's house in Baltimore, so my sister and I took her to NYC to meet her friend. I was so excited to be in a big city! We went to the Museum of Natural History and ate Thai food. My car was even hit by a taxi! (No damages was done, thank goodness.)
  • Get a Job!

    Get a Job!
After sending my resume around to a few places, I landed a job with a small law firm in Albany. I was extremely nervous because I would be the sole secretary for 4 attorneys. It ended up being a great learning experience!
  • Reunited

    Reunited
After my boyfriend got settled into his new apartment, I made the 4 hour drive from Albany to Buffalo to visit him. It was wonderful being together again, but it was so hard to leave him at the end of the weekend.
  • Long Distance Relationship

    Long Distance Relationship
Over the course of the next several months, my boyfriend and took turns visiting one another. We talked on the phone once in a while, but it was still really hard only seeing each other once a month.
  • Family Visit

    Family Visit
My grandma and my aunt came to visit me and my sister. We drove to Pennsylvania and visited the Hershey Chocolate Factory. It was great to reconnect with my Montana roots. It made me feel a little less lonely and homesick.
  • Together Again!

    Together Again!
After almost a year apart, my boyfriend and I decided to live together again. I packed up my belongings and moved them to Buffalo. In another few years, we would be married, so I guess it was all worth it!
