  • Sandlot

    Sandlot
Setting: 2008 - The Sandlot setting relates to me a lot. When I was 3 I started playing tee-ball. The town that sandlot takes place in is a suburban town with a small downtown like Newmarkets. It also relates to Newmarket because it has a small baseball field near downtown.
  • A Dog's Purpose

    A Dog's Purpose
Scene: 2009 - A Dog’s Purpose there is a scene when a young boy gets his first dog. It reminds me of how happy I was when I got my first dog, Tucker. I was four years old. We were on a camping trip and my mom and dad brought up to the pet store to ‘just look’ at the cats and dogs. That didn’t work very well because Tucker became a part of our family on that day.
  • ToyStory

    ToyStory
Character: 2009 Toy Story In the movie Toy Story the main character, Andy, adores all his toys but his favorite is Woody. Even when he gets the new and cool toy, Buzz Light Year, he plays with it for a while but in the end, he always goes back to Woody. I had a stuffed dog, T-Bone, that was my absolute favorite. I got lots of toys growing up but T-Bone is one of the only ones I still have.
  • Ratatouille

    Ratatouille
2010 Character: In the movie Ratatouille, there is a scene where Remy gets separated from his family. He is alone and scared. I can relate to this character because When I was 6 my family left me at the baseball field accidentally.
  • School Of Rock

    School Of Rock
School Of Rock The title of this movie reminds me of the daily routine my dad had with me and my brother and sister when he was a stay-at-home dad. Every day we would have what he called ‘music time’ where he would play all sorts of different movies from different time periods. He especially liked ‘80s music. I’d call that music time ‘School of Rock’ because we learned all about music.
  • Wizard of Oz

    Wizard of Oz
Quote: 2011: When I was 6 years old, my family went on a trip to Turks and Caicos. It should have been a great trip, but instead, my brother, sister and I all took turns getting sick. We all just wanted to get home. The Wizard of Oz quote, “There is no place like home,” reminds me of miserable we were to be on vacation while being sick. I really missed my own bed.
  • Christmas Vacation

    Christmas Vacation
Scene: There is a scene in the movie when Clark Griswold has the whole family come outside to watch as he flips the switch to turn on all the Christmas lights he has spent hours putting up. This scene reminds me of my dad. In 2011 he went all out, putting up Christmas lights and just like Clark, made us all come out and stand on the sidewalk. He asked for a ‘drumroll please,’ and when we gave him one, he flicked the switch to turn on the lights. Unlike Clark Griswold’s, my dad’s worked.
  • Home Alone

    Home Alone
Title: 2012 The title Home Alone relates to me because when I was 7 My Mom thought I was at my dad’s house, but I was at her house. She left to go to the store so I was at home alone for a couple of hours and at the time it was very scary.
  • Bridge to Terabithia

    Bridge to Terabithia
Setting: 2013 Bridge to Terabithia In the movie The Bridge to Terabithia, the two main characters use their imagination when they are out playing in the woods far behind their homes. The setting reminds me of how when I was a kid, my brother and I would use our imagination playing in the woods behind our house. We built a cabin just like the main characters did in the movie.
  • The Simpsons Movie

    The Simpsons Movie
Setting 2014 The Simpson’s Movie The Simpsons home setting and family life reminds me of my own home and family life. In 2014, I had to split my time between my mom’s house and my dad’s. It was a big change for us, but one thing stayed the same. Our houses were both crazy, in a fun way.
  • Meet the Robinsons

    Meet the Robinsons
Character: 2015 Meet the Robinsons The character Lewis in Meet the Robinsons liked to build and invent things. He reminds me of me in the 5th grade when I went through a phase where I wanted to build things and try all kinds of experiments.
  • Planes, Trains, and Automobiles

    Planes, Trains, and Automobiles
Scene: 2018 On a mountain near Keene New Hampshire on our way home from Cooperstown, New York, my dad’s car axel broke causing black smoke to come from the bottom of the car. We were in the middle of nowhere and it took forever for a tow truck to get there. This reminds me of the scene in Planes, Trains, and Automobiles where their car catches on fire and they get stranded.
  • Winnie The Pooh

    Winnie The Pooh
Quote: 2019 A Winnie the Pooh quote, “We didn't realize we were making memories. We just knew we were having fun.” That quote makes me think about my family’s summer vacations at a lake in Maine. We started going in 2010 and continued right up until last year, 2019. My whole extended family would meet at the lake, and I had the best time with my cousins. As kids, you don’t think much about the memories you’re making, but we made many. All that we cared about was that we were having so much fun.
  • Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan

Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan
Quote: Spock is dying in an enclosed radioactive cell. Captain Kirk is standing outside the window looking in at Spock and they both realize that if door of the cell is opened everyone will die. Spock says, “The needs of many - “, and Kirk finishes the sentence with, “... outweigh the needs of the few.” This line seems to fit with what is happening in my life and everyone else’s today. Staying at home vs. going out to be with friends, is our way of protecting many people over the ‘needs’ of few.
  • Misery

    Misery
Title December 2018- Spring 2020 Misery
Not to be depressing by the title of the movie Misery fits pretty well with events that have taken place in the last year and a half of my life. In December 2018 my step-dad died suddenly so the years and weeks that followed were miserable. It is still applicable today. Misery is a good word to describe what remote learning is.
