    Born in Porbandar on the Kathiawar peninsula. He was born to a wealthy family in the Modh Bania subcaste of the Vaisya, mechant, caste.

    In 1877 Russia and Serbia came to help Bosnia and Herzegovina free themselves from Turkish rule. Russia continued to fight Turkey until January of 1878 when the Treaty of San Stefano was signed. the treaty freed Romania Serbia and Montenegro and gave autonomy to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

    Shortly after landing in Durban Harbor Gandhi is beat up by a group of white people. He was saved by the wife of the Durban police chief stands between them. It gained so much publicity that they were forced to arrest the mob but Gandhi wouldn't press charges. He gained admiration and the mob apologized for the actions publically.

    Gandhi leads 2,000 Indians in burning their registrations in protest of the white people's racism. Gandhi and other leaders were arrested over a period of 6 years. Gandhi was placed in the same jail at least 4 times. Gandhi led the protestor's through Johannesburg to defy the Ordinance.

    Father's Day started on July 19, 1910 when a governor from washington proclaimed the first Father's Day. The vote for a Father based holiday did not receive well. A woman named Senora Smart Dodd went to YMCAs, churches, shopkeepers and government officials until she finally started the holiday.

    The British Government passed the Rowlatt Act which gave power to arrest people and keep them in jail if they were suspected of terrorism. In protest the Indian National Congress started the Hartal Movement where thousands of Indians stopped buying and selling british goods. Riots broke out and 379 indians died and 1,000 were injured.

    Gandhi started getting the people to more peacefully boycott by making their own clothes. He appealed to Congress to accept his idea and they did. it also brought about many major changes boycotts of government schools, lawcourts,allfunctions of the British Government,Act of 1919, etc destruction of the caste system and Adoption of non violence in the whole country.

    In 1932 Gandhi started a 21 day hunger strike when he was captured by the British. This was effective because the British could not have him die for fear that the revolution would spread. So the British released him after the time period and he went and ate.

    While trying to promote peace between Hindus and Pakistanis Gandhi fasts til payment is made. Five days later The Hindus pay the Pakistanis and agree to renounce violence and try for peace. Gandhi then goes back to eating again after the terms were settled.

    Gandhi was killed on Jabnuary 30, 1948. He was shot three times in the chest by Nathura Godse. Who was a member of an angry Hindu organization who didn't like Gandhi's peacemaking ways. Gandhi still lives on in all his teachings and students.
