His mother was Putlibai Gandhi and his father was Karamchand Uttamunchand Gandhi. Later in his life Gandhi would do many wonderful things for many people.

    In 1888 Mohandas had been studying in England at Law school, he attended University College of London law school. In 1891 he got called to the bar and opened a firm back in Bombay( Mumbai) india. The only issue was that this firm wasn't doing too well, so they closed it up.

    Mahatma Gandhi accepted an offer from a firm in Pretoria. It was a law firm of Muslims who wanted him to represent them in Pretoria. Pretoria is the capital of Transvaal, Transvaal was a small province in South Africa. This law firm was his second chance after his failed firm back in India. When he came to this firm he experienced his first encounter with racism he had a violent intercourse when he sat in a whites only reserved section of a public transportation method.

    Gandhi returned to India from South Africa in 1896. He returned to gather his family and head back to South Africa. When Mohandas got to South Africa people were less than thrilled. They had heard that he was telling people about Indians coming to South Africa. So the people stoned him and attempted to lynch him. This was one of the many unfair punishments that Gandhi has suffered in his lifetime.

    In the year 1906 Gandhi made a life changing decision. He became celibate, or became pure again. He extolled a vow of celibacy known as Bran Macharya. Also in the year 1906 he began another life changing thing. Gandhi began a life of voluntary poverty. Something that he decided to do to to better his life and appreciate more. Personally i think this took a lot of strength and is something i myself would not be able to do.

    1907 carried one of the many unfair events that happened to Gandhi in his lifetime. Mohandas was imprisoned for two months in 1907. This imprisonment was because he urged all indians in South Africa to deny a law. This law required all of the indians in South Africa to have a registration and fingerprint. The people of South Africa were not pleased and due to their anger toward him they imprisoned him.

    1922 was a year that carried yet another unfair event. Gandhi was imprisoned for six years. This sentence was for civil violence. When Gandhi led a march of protest and it led to violence. After two years in jail Gandhi was released. His release was due to an emergency endoscopy. His health declining was due to all of his fasting and the growing diseases around him.

    Gandhi was unfairly imprisoned AGAIN in 1942. Mohandas was imprisoned this time because of the british officials. They passed out the "Quit India" resolution. They imprisoned him in hopes to suppress a civil disordinance. After his second year in jail he caught Malaria and was released on May 6, 1944.

    Gandhi's appeal to reason, justice, tolerance and trust were not accepted or had any chance of working. After the final constitutional arrangements were being negotiated. The outbreak of communal riots between Hindus and Muslims created a very unhappy environment.

    This day was one of the many terrible days in history because a very wonderful mans life was taken over politics. Gandhi was on his way to his evening prayer meeting in Delhi. when he was holding hands with a man who we would later come to find out was his killer. Mohandas was hand in hand with Nathuram Godse when he smiled his famous toothless smile. Godse then pulled out a revolver and shot Gandhi three times. As Mohandas was collapsing he whispered the name of GOD.
