In 1066, the Normans settled in Normandy.which was just northeast of France. The Normans then adopted French ways and passed them onto England which started the beginning of the Medieval Period.

In 1135, William's son Henry died. Then the debate between Henry's daughter and nephew started, nobody knew who was going to take the throne since he died. In 1154, Henry's grandson Henry took the throne as Henry II.

The fighting came to an end when Lancaster Henry Tudor killed the Yorkist King Richard III at Bosworth Field and took the throne as Henry VII.
