    In his life, my grandfather was a man of the water. Everything he talked about was about the ocean, boats, or his time in the Navy. My grandfather was an extremly passionate man who loved his family. He spent a lot of time with his boat and was a member of the Newport Rhode Island yacht club.

    My grandfather grew up during the end of World War II. While growing up he was always near the water and boats. When he was of age he joined the navy reserves during the Korean War.

    Once my grandfather completed basic training he was deployed as an engineer on this ship that was docked in Boston but made some trips around the Americas.

    My grandfather had served his 4 years and was ready to leave the Navy and applied for permanent leave from the Navy, and received honorable discharge from the Navy, but he continued with his boy scouts.

    Boy scouts was a huge part of my grandfathers life. He had joined when he was in first grade and it played a huge role in his life. All of his friends were from boy scouts and he taught me a lot of stuff from what he learned during his time in the scouts. He made eagle scouts and was very dedicated to the scouts. When his son could become one he made is son join the scouts.

    My grandfather loved boats. He was in the Navy and was always working on boats. This was his first boat, a little sailboat. He told me stories about how he and his friends would capsize and have to flip the boat over to get back in. He was very passionate about his boat and was always on the water with his family and friends.

    Married my grandma Maryann Francis Griffin My grandfather marrying my grandmother was and will always be the most important part of his life. He would always tell me about how nervous he was on the day. He said it was more nerves than going to basic training. His marriage was the most important thing to him and he and my grandmother did almost everything together. He was always a very funny genuine guy and always used jokes to make even the hardest things go away with jokes.

    this is my grandfather walking in a boy scouts parade with his son. My grandfather was a troop leader and was always so dedicated to the scouts throughout his life. My uncle always tells me stories about how my grandfather taught so many kids and helped them become eagle scouts.

    This house was the first house my grandfather bought with my grandma. He was all of his kids in that house and told me stories about how he fixed it up and sold it for more than he bought it for. He was proud of that house and took my on a ride to see it once.

    Wood Badge is a Scouting leadership program and the related award for adult leaders in the program of Scout associations throughout the world. Wood Badge courses aim to make Scouters better leaders by teaching advanced leadership skills, and by creating a bond and commitment to the Scout. My grandfather completed this and earned his wood badge which helped him be one of the main leaders of his troop and his sons troop.

    This was my grandfathers second house. This house was a huge part of his families life and my families life. This house was my grandpas pride and joy. He worked on the house for the rest of his life. I spent many weeks at that house, my cousins lived in that house for 20 years. I spent so much time in this house and to see the work my grandfather did is awesome. We recently sold the house and it was hard for my family to say goodbye because the house holds so many memories.

    Family was the most important thing to my grandfather. HIs kids always came first. My moms wedding was his first child to get married out of 3 kids. My mom told me how excited he was to go the the wedding. My grandpa always told me to cherish family and to always be close with your family and never drift away, so you don't miss the big moments in their life.

    This boat was the my grandpas second and last boat. It was a large sailboat both capable of sailing and it had a motor. This was his baby, he loved this boat. My brother and my cousins and I would all go on trips with him on the boat form newport to near by ports and see the different towns. This boat was a huge part of his life and he put in a lot of time and money into that boat. His family practically lived on the boat. We recently sold the boat, but we named my baby sister after it.

    This picture is extremely importnat to my mom, it just shows how close they were and how good their relationship was. This photo is framed in our dining room. My grandpa was extremely important to my mom and when he passed it was especially hard on her. My grandfather was a great family man and lawyers made time for his kids no matter what the situation was.

    Passed peacefully at South Shore hospital I was luckily able to say goodbye one last time.
