Times Tables
At school I started to learn my timetables, at first I found this very difficult and was disheartened. One day it seemed to click at I did get on better but was very aware that everyone seemed to know them better than me! -
Long multiplication
Still to this day I do not understand how to do long multiplication and have developed my own way of working it out or nowadays use a calculator! Perhaps the teachers spend too much time on pushing students to go higher and forgetting about the lower ones. -
I like Maths
I started to get on well with maths and I was starting to enjoy maths too. I was more confiedent at solving problems and would be engaged all lesson. -
GCSE
I was put into a middle set but was in a class with many students that did not want to learn. The teacher spend all her time disciplining the students and forgetting about those that wanted to work. When the teacher explained things to me I never understood and after a while she would give up. I was worried I would fail my GCSE in maths. -
REVISION REVISION REVISION
I revised hard for maths on my own, working through revision guides. -
Results
I managed to get a grade C in maths which I was happy with, I was on the intermediate paper so the highest I could achieve was a grade B. I kind of wish I could have pushed myself for a B, perhaps if I had a more dedicated teacher I might have achieved it. -
Statistics
I really struggled in my 2nd year at university when statistics were introduced I did not understand, and become very frustrated as I knew I would have to do them for my dissertation. -
Statistics
At first I struggled with the statistics and then I found it easier, and I got a good grade for my dissertation and a publication, so my maths could not have been that bad after all! -
Revision
I signed up to extra revision sessions after school to boost up my maths.
