    Mason Was Born!- Personal
Mason is my 10 year old little brother, and I love him to pieces! He was born when I was in 5th grade, and it was a very difficult time for me. I was used to living life as the only child by this point, so when I found out that I was going to have a little brother I was OVER it! However, I am now over that phase and couldn't picture my life without him.

Accepted Into The Jefferson County Youth Leadership Class!- Personal
This Youth Leadership program is a great program which allows highschool juniors and seniors to work in accordance with the Jefferson County Leadership program. In this class, the characteristics of leadership, self determination, work ethic, and all other kinds of things are taught. While in this program, I was able to visit various places around the county and learn more about the county, as well.

Starred In, "Annie Get Your Gun"- Personal
I absolutely LOVED being in the Senior Play! I grew so close to all of my other senior friends, and I learned to respect people who are in the acting world. There was so much work that went into the making of the play, and it was great to be there to see how well it came together at the end!

I got employed for the first time at Carson-Newman Post Office! I started out as just a postal worker, but now I am actually the Supervisor of Work Study Students (Mary's Assistant). Having this job has been a tremendous blessing. I have met so many new people, new friends, and have become like family with my wonderful boss!
  • Miss Hanes In Action!- Professional

    Miss Hanes In Action!- Professional
My first experience in the classroom was when I worked with Mrs. Gann at JES who was my kindergarten teacher. This event influenced my professional life by solidifying the fact that I wanted to become a teacher! I loved every minute of being in the classroom with those precious kids! This event will have a major impact on my teaching of social studies because it was the first time I actually saw S.S. taught, so I will incorporate the skills I learned into my future classroom.

Made The Dean's List For The First Time- Personal
This made me SO happy! I was able to see that all of my hardwork paid off, and I knew that I could be successful in college! :)
  • Meeting With Dr. Teets!- Professional

    Meeting With Dr. Teets!- Professional
One of the major reasons behind me changing my major to Elementary Education was my meeting with Dr. Teets. Dr. Teets encouraged me to pursue my degree in Education, and she has always been so helpful in working with me. This event has influenced my professional life by bringing me into a career that I love and by helping me gain many valuable connections that can be used in getting a future job. My teaching of social studies will now encompass more aspects of partners and community connections.
  • Let's Go To Vegas!- Personal

    Let's Go To Vegas!- Personal
My dad lives in Vegas and is a teacher there. Up until 2010, he would come see me. I am a momma's girl, so I was totally okay with him coming to see me. Finally, in 2011, he talked me into going and visiting him. He flew his 2 sisters and his mom down, and we all had a blast. It was the first time I had been around them since I was a little girl, so it was great fun being able to see how much I am like them.
  • Working With The Teacher Of The Year!- Professional

Working With The Teacher Of The Year!- Professional
For my second grade practicum, I was able to work with Mrs. Hester at JES. This was the first time I got to teach a Social Stuides lesson to the class, seeing as though, I had just taught Language Arts lessons up until that point. This was important in me becoming a teacher and in my professional life because I was able to work with the kids and see how they learned best which can be used later when I teach. This will help me when I teach S.S. because I will have a lesson and notes to go by.
  • Getting To Be George Washington!-Professional

    Getting To Be George Washington!-Professional
In a second grade practicum, I was able to dress up with my other peers who were in that classroom and present a reader's theatre while being George Washington. This was important to me becoming a teacher and it impacted my life through the use of creativity. I had never taught a lesson dressed up, and seeing the kids' enthusiasm really got me motivated on how to teach in my classroom. This will have an impact on my teaching S.S. because I will use these plays to teach big concepts and ideas.
  • Cali-forn-i-a! - Personal

    Cali-forn-i-a! - Personal
Besides traveling with my mom, I really haven't been to that many places. My dad lives in Vegas, as I stated earlier, and he has a sister who lives in California. For my second trip to the other side of the U.S., my dad flew me to California to hang out with him, his sister and her children, and his mom. It was a blast getting to see Hollywood, Disneyland, and other major tourist attractions! :)
  • Reading Specialist For The Day!- Professional

Reading Specialist For The Day!- Professional
I got to work with the Reading Specialist at Fairview-Marguerite. This was an important event in me becoming a teacher and in my professional life because I was able to see what it was like to work with children and to see where it is exactly that they fall short. In Social Studies, this will help me becuase I will know the student's comprehension and accuracy level, so I can plan my lessons accordingly.
