On October 2, 1869 Putlibai Gandhi gave birth to her fourth and last son and soon to be historical figure, Mohandas Gandhi. Mohandas was born in Porbandar, India. -

Gandhi and his soul mate
In 1882 Gandhi got married to Kasturba. He was not married by choice, but his wedding and marriage was arranged by Mahatma and Kasturba's parents. They had four children together. -
Going to England
In Gandhi went to the unversity of in england to study law. He had problems eating their because he had a hard time using forks and knives so he wsnt comfortable eating food in fromt of people. He also didnt eat meat. While in England he became a lawyer. -
First son
In 1888 Gandhi had his first of four sons. Harilal Gandhi was the first born. -

In May 1893 Gandhi went to Natal, South Africa. He arrived there at the age of 23. He went to South Africa trying to learn more about law, but ended up having a completely new goal. During his first week in Natal he was taking a train to the Dutch-governed Transvaal province of South Africa, but during his ride a white man told Gandhi to move because he did not want to be in first class with Gandhi. but Gandhi did not move. -

Continued- But since Gandhi would not move he was thrown off the train. After the event happened, he went around talking to other indians. He found out that they were not treated very well either. So he dicided to fight dicrimination against indians in South Africa. -
Celibacy
Gandhi had strong beliefs about certain things. And usual follwed them for a while. In 1897 Gandhi experemented with Celibacy. He found this experement very hard but did succesfuly follow Celibacy. -
Peacfull Marches
Gandhi leads a march peacefully in protest of a racist poll tax and marriage laws. It continues for a while and even through winter weather -
Satyagraha
Gandhi and his followers found Satyagraha ashram, the religiously-oriented communal farm where Gandhi, his family, and his followers will later live. -
First fast
Gandhi has his first fast because of the interest of striking mill workers in Ahmedabad. -
Congress
In 1925, Gandhi became President of the Indian National Congress. -
India Indepenence
After the salt march Gandhi had many flloweres. So after the march he went on another fast. Since there was so many Indian protesters the British thought of ways to have and independent India. Wanting independence sooner, Gandhi organized a "Quit India" campaign in 1942. In response, the British once again jailed Gandhi. After his release there was a great chance India was going to become independant. On January 18, a group of representatives approached Gandhi with a promise for peace -
The Salt March
In 1930 to help free India from British controll, Gandhi held a non-violent march near the sea coast near the village of Dandi to protest the British salt tax. The Salt Tax made it illegal to sell or produce salt, which effected many people in India. -
The death of Mohandas Gandhi
On January 30th, 1948, Mahatma was assinated. He was murdered by a fanatic at the Birla House in New delhi.
