The Government of India Act was one of the first moves to independence for India. This allowed India to have more free reign of their government. -
Indian Independence Becomes Official
India’s independence was officially granted, and the partition between India and Pakistan also becomes official. After independence was declared, Pakistan broke off of India and became a prominent Muslim country, with India being mostly made of Hinduism. -
Gandhi Dies of Assassination
Gandhi was assassinated by Nathuram Vinayuk Godse, a Hindu nationalist. Gandhi’s movement in India influenced other civil rights activists, especially Martin Luther King Jr.
