    Gandhi's Birth
    Gandhi was born in Porbandar, India. The Hindu merchant caste Vaisya owned his family at that time, and his father had been a prime minister then.

    Gandhi started studying at University College London on September 4th to become a lawyer. He studied Indian Law and wanted to change the world with his job.

    Gandhi got married when he was 13 to a girl named Kasturbai (even though he was against child marriage.) He was very happy with her, but he was also very pushy. He chose her friends for her, he checked on her every minute, and he tried to control her, but she didn't let him. Gandhi still went to school when he was married.

    During the Boer War, 22,000 troops were injured and needed medical treament. There were 28 ambulances, 5 stationary hospitals and 26 general hospitals. Gandhi also tried to help the wounded.

    Great Britain decides to grant Pakistan and India their independence. They celebrated, but the celebration did not last long. Independence resulted in thousands of deaths from Pakistan, Muslims, and Hindus fighting.

    Gandhi publishes the Declaration of Independence of India on January 26th. He made the Declaration of Independence of India because he and everyone else wanted their independence, but nobody did anything, so Gandhi stepped up and created the Declaration of Independence of India.
  • Prison

    Gandhi and many others were arrested for creating a 'Salt March.' A Salt March is an act of rebellion. There was a law saying you could not make your own salt, but Gandhi gathered lots of people to create a salt march. They marched to the sea to get their own salt, and got 30 years in prison.
  • Hunger Strike

    After Gandhi gets out of prison for eight months, he started a hunger strike. He was mad that the untouchables weren't really allowed to do anything or as seen as 'dirty animals' so he went on a hunger strike to help them out.
  • Peace Attempt

    Gandhi wanted peace to come to everyone, so he started anolther hunger strike. He didn't eat for five days, and they agreed to pay for homes and bring peace to everyone.
  • Gandhi's Death

    Gandhi's Death
    Gandhi died in New Delhi, India. His great nieces were helping him to go pray, when one of his fanatics came to shoot him with a pistol. He shot him three times; in the stomach and the chest. Right after he was shot he did the Hindu gesture and said "God, God." They frantically called the hospital, but Gandhi died within half an hour.
