Mahatma Gandhi was on his way to South Africa to help those slaves from England, he got on the train and the british wouldn't let him sit in the first class seats because they were for british people. He kept refusing, until they actually kicked him off the train. When they did that he did not want to go home, so instead he walked to South Africa and told everybody what happened, and when he did they joined Gandhi in the fight for their freedom in South Africa.

He became famous when he started standing up for the people in South Africa, and the whole world refers to Mahatma Gandi as a hero, for saving all of those people without hurting a single sole.

In 1906 Mahatma Gandhi Lead a huge group for the Civil Disobedience. This lasted for about eight full years!

In 1909 Gandhi was sentenced to three months imprisonment in Pretoria jails. After he was released he set out to England to enlist support for the Indian community.

In 1913, all the women, men, and everybody who were with Gandhi and stood up for there rights went to jail!

When the year 1914 came around Mahatma Gandhi came back home to India. He went back to India to support the Home Rule movement.

In may of 1944 Mahatma Gandhi was released from prison and when he was released he saw the second attempt made on his life.

January the 30th is when Mahatma Gandhi died by assassination by a firearm. The man who shot him was named Nathuram Godse.
