Ralph becomes the leader. This is important because now they are moving towards order and not savagery. Also because there is a leader rules can be put in place to prevent destruction of order -
Jack tries to kill the pig
Jack tries to kill a pig, but he can't because he is too afraid of ending the life of an animal because he believes it is too barbaric. But the urge to kill the pig is too great afterwards, so all he thinks about is killing a pig -
Ralph starts to make rules
When Ralph starts to make rules he creates order, if there was no order then all of the kids would be running around, and screaming and there would only be savagery and chaos -

Chapter 2 events -
Build a fire
They build a fire, using the wood that they found in the forest, then they lit the fire using Piggy's glasses to reflect the sun onto the wood, to create the fire -
Forest fire
They created a fire, but the fire got out of control, and burned down half of the island. And killed some kids such as the young'in with the mulberry-colored birthmark. -
Jack and the pig
Ralph, Simon, and Jack go out into the forest, but soon Jack got crazy looking for a pig because he wanted to kill one so he could have some food -

Chapter 3 events -
Argument
Ralph and Jack start an argument because Ralph is complaining about how he has been working all day with Simon to make the Shelters, and how it was Jack's job to hunt for a pig to kill, but Ralph and Simon are almost done, and Jack has no pig to cook and eat. -
Simon's Hideout
Simon found a nice cove to hid in, so it could be a good place to hunt in, and a good shelter. -
Maurice Sand-kicking
Jack and Maurice kicked over the young'uns sand castles and kicked sand in their eyes, which shows they are not very good leaders because to be a good leader there had to be respect shown to everyone no matter how small they are -

Jack and Roger painted their faces because they are going to go hunting and kill a pig and they are determined to do so.
