  • My Dad Playing The Guitar

    My Dad Playing The Guitar
As a child, my dad always had a guitar on his knee. He was always playing music in the living room. I loved dancing and singing along to the songs with him. Most of the time I enjoyed him playing the guitar, but sometimes it got a little old. I would put my hands over the strings and ask him to stop playing the same song over and over.
  • First Book I Read

    First Book I Read
The first book I ever read was a Junie B Jones book. It was way too advanced for me but I really wanted to read it. My mom would help me every time I didn't know a word, which was most of the book.
  • Walking Through the Garden with My Nana

Walking Through the Garden with My Nana
When my cousins and I would go to my nana's house we would always put on our old clothes and tennis shoes and take a walk to her garden. We picked anything that was ready and sometimes we got a little excited and picked stuff that wasn't ready.
  • Playing "Teacher" With My Cousin

    Playing "Teacher" With My Cousin
When my cousin and I would go to our grandmother's house we would always play "teacher". We used old retro phones and an old red school desk my grandmother had. One person would be the teacher and the other was the student. We had every class you can think of. We even went on field trips.
  • Baking My First Cake

    Baking My First Cake
I always loved, and still do love, baking with my grandmother. We would always bake a "lightning cake" from a really old recipe book she had. I remember one day she told me I could try to make the cake by myself without her help. I did everything from start to finish and I was so proud of myself.
  • Watching a Movie With My Step Siblings

Watching a Movie With My Step Siblings
My step siblings and I found the movie "The Woman in Black" on Netflix. We watched it so many times we could say every line while it was being played. There was one specific part we all loved and would rewind and watch over and over. The man in the movie would touch a window and as soon as he touched it a woman popped up and screamed.
  • Winning Nationals

    Winning Nationals
My team and I wanted to win nationals more than anything. We practiced until we could not move. When we finally won nationals we were all so excited. It was like biggest dream of ours had been achieved.
  • My First Day of Middle School

My First Day of Middle School
On my first day of middle school I was really nervous. My mom was a teacher at the elementary school I went to and although I never needed her, I was still scared she wasn't there with me. I was scared of this big school with all kinds of big kids. As I went through my Sixth grade year I observed the older kids and noticed how they acted and got much more comfortable.
  • First Time Speaking to a Crowd

First Time Speaking to a Crowd
One year at Bob Evan's Farm Festival my clogging team and I were performing for the weekend. My clogging instructor allowed me to speak on a microphone to the crowd as they were leaving. I was really nervous, but the experience helped me in everyday life and as the weekend went on I got more comfortable.
  • Learning How to Play The Mandolin

Learning How to Play The Mandolin
One time at a cookout I was handed a mandolin, shown 3 chords, and told to play along. I was nervous to be playing with people who had been playing their entire life ,but I'm glad I got the courage to play along. I now have a fun new hobby and something I can enjoy doing with my dad. Even though I'm not really that good, I still love playing music with my dad and friends.
