An over view of my life from prenatal to death

My mother is caucasion (Czech, German and Irish), she was raised Catholic in California. My dad is african american, he was raised Methodist in Alabama during segregation.

During this time My mother refrained from using any drugs or alcohol. I developed normally

Born in Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles. 8:05 pm by Cesarian-section
Birth weight 7lb 4oz
20.5 inches long Because of a fever mother (Nancy Fitzgerald) can not hold me for 4 days, but my father (Harold Dennis) holds and feeds me every day. -
Birth to 6 months

at 5 months of age

6 months to 1 year

Crawling at 6 months

Said "bye bye" unpredictably at 7 months

Standing by myself and taking 5 steps on my own

years 2 and 3

Shaw says "dirty" when she wants to be changed. "Dirty" also means mud.

Learn to hop and jump. Look at pictures of black men aand say "daddy". According to the literature of the time children do not percieve race until age 3

Shaw goes #2 in the potty chair. 2 days later she uses it for both #1 and #2

At a little over one and a half I swallowed a penny and it got caught in my throat. I was taken to the ER. After an expensive X-ray the doctors sent my mother home saying the problem would resolve itself. And it did, On the car ride home. I threw up all over my mother.

Started stuttering around this time. This resolved itself a week or two later

From age 3 to 6

At the age of 5 my mother and I moved to Seattle to start a new life.

My Grandfather dies of cancer

I go to kindergarten at B.F. Day

Ages 6 to 11

Shaw and Waverly move to a communal living house on Capitol Hill. A huge mansion on 16th and Aloha where Shaw has many children to play with. I get my first pet a hamster named Zergy, but he escapes and disappears after 3 days.

I start school at the local elemantary school on 18th Ave E

Shaw transfers to TOPS (The Option Program at Stevens) An alternative school that encouraged peer education and parental involvment.

Third grade with Louise

4th grade with teacher Lidia/ Shaw almost wins the class spelling bee

Girls soccer league, I play for 3 years. My team name? The Blizzards

Ages 12 to 18

5th grade with Tom Rowe. Shaw is the Blue Fairy in the school play, Pinnochio. Learn the timetables

Starting middle school at Seattle Academy of Arts and Sciences (SAAS), a private school on Capitol Hill. Transition from big school to small school is difficult. Very self conscious and exrtemely emotional

As a teenager, I start to become very self conscious and awkward. Especially around the opposite sex

Become near sighted and have to get glasses

Get first period

Experimenting with alcohol, pot and cigarettes.
Change of friends and behavior -
Shaw goes to the Running Start program attending both college and High School. She enjoys the intellectual stimulation provided in college.

Age 18 to 28

Move out of mothers home and into own apartment.

After a lot of hard work I finish the culinary school at Seattle Central and move to France to learn how to cook French cuisine.

At 22 I decide to start running, by the summer I can run in a marathon

At the age of 28 having learned all I can in France I move back to Seattle and start working as a sous chef

28 to 40

30 years old. It's time to start thinking harder about what I eat and how much.Because my cholesterol is high I stop eating fatty foods and try to make sure I do 30 minutes of exercise a day.

I read the China Study and find out more about animal abuse and vegan diet. Because of this I stop eating all animal proteins.

Having achieved expertise in my field I open a vegan restaurant that serves French style foods

The restaurant is doing well but I feel that I want to try something new because the food industry is not the best retirement plan. I sell the business for a decent profit and decide to go back to school to learn about technology/computer sciences

I meet a nice man at my new job at Microsoft and we end up getting engaged. because we met later in life we both understand what we want from a life partner

My fiance and I tie the knot in a small ceremony at the Japanese Garden in the Seattle Arboretum

My friends throw a big birthday party to celebrate my 40th birthday.

40 to 60

MA and my husband buy a house in the suburbs, meaning we have to commute to work

High cholesterol concerns my doctor as heart disease runs in my family

At 60 I start to notice that my eyesight is declining and I need bifocals

60 to Death

At the age of 67 it's time to retire. It's finally time to enjoy the garden and travel like I'vealways wanted to

My husband passes away leaving me to take care of everything on my own. At the age of 78 I sell the house and move into a small condo even though it breaks my heart to leave my garden.

Because of improvements in medical care I live a very long life. At the age of 90 a gargoyle falls on my head while I am visiting Notre Dame in one last trip to France. I am laid to rest in an elaborate vault in New Orleans Lousiana after a jazz funeral.
