  • Early life

    Early life
    He was born in August. 15, 1769 in the island of Corsica. French conquered the island and took it away from the Italian. He had eight siblings.
  • Gaining Power

    Gaining Power
    In October 1775 the government came looking for Napoleon so that he could defend the delegates. He makes the royalists run away in panic and confusion. He becomes the hero and was known as the savior of the French Republic.
  • Leading French

    In 1776 Napoleon was the leader of a French army against Austria and Sardinia. He won many battles. To protect French trade interests and disrupt British with India he led an expedition to Egypt.
  • College Life

    College Life
    He goes to the university called the Royal Military Academy of France. He graduated young (at age 16) in 1785. Completed school early because of his intelligence and commitment to learning.

    Battles
    He lost a battle in Egypt versus the British who were led by Horatio Nelson. He was still known as a good leader since he kept his army motivated. He was able to keep his defeats out of the newspaper for people not to know from his failures

    In 1789 the national assembly was demanding more privileges for the people of France and even slaves were demanding their rights. A civil war began because people wanted their freedom and rights.

    In 1799 the directory had no more control over political and confidence of the French citizens. People wanted Napoleon to be the leader of the French and took action as soon as he could. His power began in 1799 as the French political leader.

    The lawmakers were voting to dissolve the directory because of this three councils were placed in which one, Napoleon was leading. He then took power as a dictator since he was named the first council. This was known as a coup.

    France was at war and in 1799 Britain, Austria and Russia joined forces to bring Napoleon down from his power. Napoleon was still at the head of his troops and had a very strong army. An effect on the power Napoleon had, the three nations decided to sign a peace agreement with France.

    In 1800 there was voting in which everybody voted for Napoleon to be the one with full power and a new constitution was approved. Napoleon was not trying to get friends like old times when Louis was the leader and decided to keep many of the changes in the revolution. He was able to achieve many revolution goals and was loyal to the laws.

    Napoleon was not agreeing with the freedom of religion and did not let the church have power. In effect to this thinking, an agreement was signed with the pope. This agreement gave Napoleon support from the church and even more French people were following.

    In 1801 Napoleon decided to restore the productive sugar industry and had to stop the conquering of other countries. After his failure on his expedition to Saint Domingue h decided to stop conquering the Americas and start selling his properties.

    In 1802 Europe was first in peace. Napoleon was seeking to reinforce France and make it a bigger empire. All other countries were in peace while Napoleon wanted to conquer all of Europe.

    The Napoleonic code was made which gave a number of laws that would bring order. Actually, it was removing the liberty and freedom of people such as rights. The revolution totally changed since many of the characteristics that it had were not permitted by the code.

    In 1804 Napoleon was named emperor. The pope was present and gave him the crown for it to be more official. He became more powerful than the church.
  • Conquering Europe

    Conquering Europe
    He started conquering Europe and he was doing a successful job. He lost only one battle which was called Trafalgar. The French empire has huge but unstable and he only able to maintain it for a few years until it began to fall.

    In 1806 Napoleon made a blockage in which he did not allow Britain ships to enter his land for trade. He didn’t get Portugal to accept the continental system and he began a war. People were protesting from this war.
  • Mistakes

    Mistakes
    In 1812 Napoleon made a big mistake in which Russians were not being loyal to the continental system. Napoleon’s army marched into Russia and it was an unequal battle since Alexander did not have enough troops. Napoleon troops started to own his lands.

    Many of the countries were taking advantage of the fall of Napoleon and started to defeat him in all his wars. They were able to get him out Europe and have peace for some time.
  • 100 days of war and death

    100 days of war and death
    The 100 days began when Napoleon was able to make a group again and go back to Europe. He was trying to conquer everything back, but the other countries were able to defeat him again. In 1821 he died because of a stomach disease but was known for being a really good leader.
