  • Dance Teacher

    Dance Teacher
I began teaching dance to children ages 3-16 in high school, and have continued through college. I Taugh children a range of dance styles, as well as the backstage ropes of the theater and dance world. I worked to inspire my students to want to learn new dance steps, and to want to perform. This is an example of athority vs. leadership. I worked as a leader, not soley as an authority figure.

I managed mixor monitors and our events as well. I faced many adaptive chalenges, as the needs of each individual member were all very different. With the loss of a sister, I helped my chapter deal with greivance and plan support groups.
  • Sisterhood Development Co-Chair

    Sisterhood Development Co-Chair
I took on the role of Sisterhood Development Co Chair when the position needed to be filled. My responsibilities included preparing for a new member education plan, as well as planning and executing a Bid Day celebration. I was able to be present among the new members, and they viewed me as a leader, but also as a member of the chapter. I was able to help them take care of problems as they arose and did not just fix all of their problems for them.
  • Christmas on Campus Core Team Member

Christmas on Campus Core Team Member
I became involved with the Christmas on Campus event at Loyola University Chicago. This event is a Chistmas party for children of inner-city schools. The children are paired with a student buddy who keeps them company as the play games, do crafts, and watch performances. I helped plan and organize the event, but acted mainly as the Decorations Chair. I was in charge of creating an enviornment safe, yet interesting for children to enjoy. I worked with a committee, who helped make the decorations.
  • Archon

    Archon
I am Archon, or President, of the Zeta Tau Chapter of Phi Sigma Sigma. My responsibilities include guiding the chapter in our mission, as well as making sure the chapter is operating in the correct manner. I act as an influential member of the chapter in striving to reach our common goals and philanthropic endeavors. This distiguishes power from progress I am motivating the other leaders and members to participate and reach our goals, not just delegating.

    Archon Continued
There is a balance needed in leadership. The switch from hero to artist is a large part of this. A hero has a formal title, is set in his/her ways, and is the only one who will solve a problem a right way. An artist works with members and keeps an open mind when setbacks arise. Although I have a formal title, I do realize that I need to work creatively and interdependently with chapter members in reaching our goals. I need to confidently be willing to leave my comfort zone & seek insight.
