In “A Worn Path,” Phoenix’s asks God to help her through the woods and along the path. In the beginning of my journey towards being confirmed, I also prayed for God’s guidance.

Things got a little rough and the road got bumbpy. I was confused and didn't really know where I was going. I began to question many different things and it was hard to keep my full faith and trust in God. I began to wonder why certain things happen to certain people. These were obstacles that I had to overcome, just as Phoenix overcame the obstacles she came across.

The time came around to pick a sponsor, and I thought of a whole list of people. I went over in my head who was strong in their faith and was a devoted Catholic, then it hit me: my neighbor, Mrs. Leslie. I have known her pretty much my entire life and she's an amazing role model. She helped me both spiritually and emotionally throughout my entire journey. This relates to hoe the woman stopped what she wsa doing and put everything down to help Phoenix tie her shoe laces.

In "A Worn Path," Phoenix talks about her grandson and says " I could tell him from all the others in creation." This can relate to the way God looks at us. Along my journey, we did many activities about choosing right and wrong and allowing God to accept us we are.

ME: Here you go, Mrs. Leslie! Thank you so much for helping throughout my journey!
MRS. LESLIE: Oh I enjoyed it! Your journey has ended and your knew one has begun!
Just as Phoenix gave her grandson a windmill, I gave Mrs. Leslie a rosary as a ‘thank you’ gift.
