  • Dress up for a "Wedding"

    Dress up for a "Wedding"
When I was in nursery we were learning about the Parshat HaShavuah. One week we were told that we would be celebrating a wedding. I understood this to mean that we needed to dress up in our best attire,my parents wanted me in regular stainable clothing. I reported to them that "Yaakov and Rachel" would be mad if I didnt dress up. And thus began my facinsation and connection to Torah.

  • Influencial Teacher #1

I remember with fondness, my kindergarten teacher, Morah Sarah Goldfisher’s excitement and enthusiasm when greeting us in the morning. She never feigned interest in our reports of the day’s events, rather, she was wholeheartedly enthused by them. Morah Sarah demonstrated with her whole being that a teacher should not simply be the person who grades your papers during the school year. A teacher is someone who conveys to her students that they matter and what they think matters. Morah Sarah taug

  • Influential teacher #2

Lessons learned from an extraordinary Gemara teacher at Ramaz High School, Rabbi Dr. Meir Soloveichik come to mind. Not only did Rabbi Soloveichik have a thorough grasp of the material, but he taught me much about classroom management. He taught me that a good teacher needs to be adaptable in an ever-changing classroom, and to keep students interested and engaged, a teacher must be flexible. While we would cover the relevant course material, Rabbi Soloveichik always encouraged us to discuss the
