Little Izzie was born
I was born on April fools in Recife, Brazil. My birth seemed like a joke to some of my family. When my parents told them I was being born they thought they were lying since it was april fools. They finally realized they weren't and rushed to the hospital to see me. -
I moved to the US
I was 7 years old. Moving to a completely different country not knowing anybody but my parents, leaving my whole family behind. My parents wanted me to have a good life and a good future so the US was it. -
I met my best friend
My first day of 7th grade I met my best friend Shanika. She's always been there for me as well as I have for her. We get through tough times together especially now that Im hundreds of miles away. We don't go a day without talking, she's the sister I never had. -
Visiting Brazil
Went to visit Brazil for the first time in 5 years and seeing my family and friends. It was an amazing feeling. Everyone seeing me leave at 7 years old and then seeing me at 12 was very different. Also seeing all my friends I had growing up becoming young adults and my cousins become husbands and wives.. -
My baptism
It was a very emotional day for me, as well as my friends who were getting baptized with me. It had to be one of my happiest moments. -
My Quince
My church came together to help me have my quinceanera which was my sweet 15. It was perfect! I saw my dad cry for the first time. It was a beautiful celebration and I thank God for having the opportunity to have one because I wasn't going to since my parents couldn't afford it. -
Saddest Last day of school - Freshman year
This was one of the saddest days of my life. It was the last time seeing all my friends that I loved who were basically family and also my first love because I was moving to VA. I had grown to love each and every one of them so much! We were friends for years and years so it was very hard to let go. It was also the first time I had ever cried on a last day of school. -
I got my dog Gigi
My parents decided to surprise me with the perfect little puppy since I was an only child and we were moving to VA and I didn't know anybody, they knew I needed something to keep me occupied over the summer. She was not even 3lbs, tan, with the most adorable little blue eyes. It was the cutest puppy I had ever seen, I named her Gigi. -
1st year at Herm
I was so nervous to be a new student, I hadn't been one since I moved to the US. My whole life I've always known people at any school I went to since I lived there for years, but now I knew nobody and it was frustrating for me. But I can say that during my first week at Herm I met a lot of amazing people who helped me create moments I'll never forget. -
Saw snow for the 1st time!
It was weird and everyone made fun of how I had never seen snow in person! It was a very cool feeling and moving to VA gave me this advantage that I didn't have in FL. Even though it only snowed twice while I've been here, I'm glad it did.
