United Nations voted to partition. Then British-controlled Palestine into Arab and Jewish states. The leaders of Arab rejected it. Israel wants independence. Six Arab states attack. Israel beats the Arab armies and gets more of the land.Jerusalem is controlled and divided by Jordan and Israel. -
Six Day War
Eygpt sends away United Nations and starts to get their army ready. Israel does a suprise attack. Syria, Jordan, and Iraq join in. But Israel destroyes the Arab army. Israelis caught East Jerusalem and the West Bank. -
Yom Kippur War
On the holiday Yom Kippur, Egypt and Syria launch a attack on Israeli armies in Sinai and Golan Heights. Israel drives back both armies and a cease-fire is declared. Israel later take back from parts of Sinai and the Golan Heights. -
Peace
After the Yom Kippur War, things were peaceful. US President Jimmy Carter brokers peace between Egypt and Israel. Egypt becomes the first Arab nation to recognize Israel, and Israel go away from the rest of Sinai. -

Attack
The Palestinians are mad becuase the West Bank and the Gaza are occupied by Israel. They group was attacking Israeli soldiers. The first suicide attack on civilians in Israel takes place in 1989. The violence known as the Intifada - lasts until 1990. -
Today
Throughout all these years and today Israelis maintained settlements. This practice is considered illegal becuase Israelis expand these settlements, believing the OT belongs to the Jews. They are surrounded by safety zones where Palestinians are not allowed to farm at, and roads they can't use.
