    Cornelius Drebbel, a dutch inventor, made the first known submarine in 1578. A submarine is a boat that was built to be operated under water for long periods of time.

    Steam Engine
    Thomas Newcomen,who was an English engineer, in 1725 built an engine that used steam. A steam engine converts the heat energy of steam into mechanical energy and the mechanical energy can push pinson back and forth. The steam engine was generally used in England.
  • Cotton Gin

    Cotton Gin
    Eli Whitney invented the cotton gin, on March 14 in 1794. The cotton gin cleaned the cotton by seperating the seeds from the cotton with little effort from the laborers. A person that cleaned a cotton by hand would clean about one pound a day, while a person that cleaned cotton with the machine cleaned about fifty pounds a day. It was spread throughout the United States.

    The light bulb was invented by Thomas Edison on October 22 in 1876. The lightbulb was invented in Menlo Park, New Jersey. The light bulb was made so you could see in the dark without using a candle. The light bulb was needed because it is a safer and easier way to light up a room. This changed society because it allowed for a cheaper and more efficient way to see at night time or in the dark.
