Inventions of the Industial Revolution

  • The Typewriter

    Henry mill invented the typewriter in England. The first kind of these machines were slow but surprisingly effective. But the speed increased more as people around the world worked on it. It made a written essay much easier to write just by typing it.
  • The Submarine

    David Bushneil built a submarine called the Turlte during the Revolutionary War. It is a ship-type machine that is used for under water battle. This invention was used to attack the British during the war. It was first built on the harbor of New York. This completely changed how war is fought over seas.
  • The Cottton Gin

    Eli Whitney invented the cotton gin. It could produce 50 pounds of cotton per day. Farmers needed a machine that easily cleans black-seeded ccotton. It was designed for seeds in the South, and farmers who used it brought in more money becuase of the amout of cotton they were making.
  • The Reaper

    Cyrus Hall McCormick developed the reaper in the summer of 1831. It eliminated hand-held scythes and cradles and all the backbreaking work that went into harvesting wheat. He created his invention in Walnut Grove, Virginia. It also brought sales up that would change the wheat business forever.
  • The Light Bulb

    Thomas Edison patented the first light bulb in America. The light bulb was designed to give off more light, rather than heat. This completely changed the idea of light. people around the world came to see this new invention. They were amazed that something other than a candle was giving off light.
  • The Machine

    The first machine gun was created in America by Hiram S. Maxim. It was smaller andlighter than the first gun by Gatling. It used gas power used shoot bullets repetedly. Many armies wanted then power and it was eventually used world wide by all military forces.
