Eli Whitney made pieces of parts that have specifications so they are exactly alike. Production became faster and repairs easier cheaperand decreased need for skilled labor. -
National Roads
Albert Gallatin built a road from Maryland to Virginia. Allowed people to move about the country easier and aided with settlement of new areas. -
Steamboats
Robert Fulton made the first streamboat and it was powered by steam engines rather than water wheels. Transportation became easier and faster cities developed such as St. Louis and westward expansion. -
Erie Canals
The Erie Canal was a man made waterway that linked NY city with buffalo. Opened up Ohio for transportation of film products and development and made westward expansion easier. -
Textile and lowell mills
Francis Cabot Lowell made factories where girls can come and work 12 hour shifts and lived in boarding homes. Gave women who were unmarried and to young to marry -
Steel Plow
John Deere made a light weight plow with a sturdy steel blade designed for heavier soils. Plowing farms became much faster and easier it also increased farms production and expansion of farms in the midwest U.S. -
Telegraph
Samuel Morse used a machine to communicate by tapping out codes that could be translated. Improved communication and brought the country together. -
Sewing Machine
Elias Howe made the origanal but James Hargreaves improved it and used it to weave cloth and sew clothing. Increased clothing industry and increased need for cotton. -
Transcontinental Rail road
Central pacific Railroads and union pacific rail road had a railroad that connects Atlantic ocean and Pacific ocean. Improved transportation.
