  • Cotton Gin

    Revolutionized the production of cotton by cpeeding up the process. Invented by Eli Whitney, I think it happened in the South because that's where there was a high demand in cotton. I think the invention of the cotton gin brought some compromise for the slaves that would actually have to pick the cotton by making their job easier.
  • Embargo act 1807

    This was the general embargo that made all exports from the U.S. illegal, made by Thomas Jefferson. This was important because it was during the times of the Napoleonic wars and the U.S. wanted to stay neutral and trade with both sides. This event caused conflict, because the British began to violate American neutrality and many Americans wanted war.
  • Missouri Compromise

    The congress was involved. Missouri wanted to enter the union as a slave state and that would mess up the balance between free and slave states so Missouri was entered as a aslave state but maine was turned into a free state to help keep balance. This event caused conflic betweeen people that were for and opposed slavery.
  • Tariff of Abominations

    Written by John Quincy Adams. The tariff was created to help protect the industry in the North. It was important because it caused more conflict between the North and the South and kind of promoted even more sectionalism and more hate between northerners and southerners.
