  • The Steam Engine

    In 1698 Thomas Savery invented the Steam Engine. The Steam Engine was designed in England to help remove water in the bottom of the coal mines. This invention replaced muscle power and saved many humans energy and lives. Doing this job was very dangeous and changed society and transformed work by making less jobs.
  • The Cotton Gin

    In 1793, in America, Eli Whitney invented the Cotton Gin. The Cotton Gin enabled laborers to seperate the seeds from the cotton easier. This allowed more cotton to be produced per day to make blankets and clothing etc. The invention was needed because the process of seperating the seeds from the cotton was long, slow, and hard and this allowed them to go faster and produce more cotton.
  • The Reaper

    In Virginia in 1831 Cyrus McCormick invented the Reaper. The Reaper harvested wheat on farms and changed Amercia forever. Before this invention farmers often planted too many crops and had up to 10 days to harvest them and of corse couldn't. It was backbreaking and tireing and alot of the food would go to waste without it. This invention allowed more to be harvested every day without using all the energy up and wasting a lot of crops.
  • The Sewing Machine

    The Sewing Machine was patent in 1846 by Elias Howe in America. Before her there were many people who had the same idea. The sewing machine sews fabic to make clothing and sheets etc. It was way faster than hand sewing which made it faster for more items to be produced. This machine did replace many jobs. The poor didnt have it and the rich had people to do it for them before it was invented so the rich fired the people who did it for them becuase now they had a machine to do it for them.
