Brittish annexation of India. India was now officially under British rule.

Added more members to the viceroys and provincial governor's council. This act only served to make the Indians feel like they had more power, keeping in mind the fact that the councils had no real authority at this time.

Legislative councils (of Indians) permitted to discuss budget and introduce bills. This was the Indian's first real taste of power in the government. It meant that the issues of the people would at least be heard.

The British government anounced that future policies would lead to "self-governing instotutions for India." This came during WWI when the Britishwere seeking Indian support against Germany. This act was mostly just propoganda to increase Indian support.

Made India a federation of states.This was a large step in India's move towards autonomy, as it gave a clear govermental structure to each region, and got Indain governmental officials involved in day-to-day responsibilities.
