Important Moments in my LIfe

  • Birth

I was born at Markham-Stouffville Hospital, my parents second child and first son. Apparently the first notable thing I did was pee on the nurse.
  • Birth of Little Brother

My little brother Adnan was born 8 days before my birthday, so I used to get jealous of him stealing all my attention.
  • Birth of Another Little Brother

The fourth and last child in our family, Faizaan, was born. I remember when we brought him home I tried to hold him but he immediately started crying. I took this as an insult and basically avoided him for the next 8 years.
  • First Day of Kindergarten

I attened Central Park Public School during Kindergarten. Nothing interesting really happened there except for the teacher finding some kids underwear on the ground one day.
  • Moved to Irish Rose Drive

    Moved to Irish Rose Drive
We had moved many times before this, but I had always been living with my cousins. This was the first house that was really 'ours'. I remember how my parents brought my other siblings to see it when it was being constructed but they wouldn't bring me because they were afraid I would tell everyone that we were moving.

  • Cut Ribbon at Official School Opening Ceremony

Cut Ribbon at Official School Opening Ceremony
One day in the first grade the principal called me out of the classroom into the hall. Apparently my name had been pulled out of a hat so I was given the honour of cutting the ribbon at the school opening ceremony. That was sort of my 'claim to fame' back then, and my picture is still in the office at that school.
  • Accepted into GIfted Program

I didn't really understand what this meant at the time, but I took a couple of tests in grade three and passed.
  • Transferred to John McCrae Public School

Transferred to John McCrae Public School
Since my old school didn't have a gifted program, I transferred here, and stayed through elementary school.
  • Drove to East Coast of Canada

My dad wanted to take us somewhere during the summer, but we couldn't really afford plane tickets since there was six of us. So instead, we went on a huge road trip and got to see the Eastern Provinces.
  • Graduated from John McCrae Public School

Graduated from John McCrae Public School
I graduated with Honor Roll and an award in English.
  • Got Stuck on Pontoon Boat with Family

During the summer my dad took us on a pontoon boat, which is basically a small raft driven by a motor. Since he got distracted while driving, we went into a pretty shallow area and couldn't get out. After an hour we finally cleaned the propellor and got out.
  • Finished Office in Basement with Dad

Finished Office in Basement with Dad
We decided to finish the basement in our house by ourselves rather than pay money to hire a contractor. I helped my dad build the frame for the walls, put up drywall, and paint the office.
  • First Day at Markville Secondary

    First Day at Markville Secondary
I admit I was pretty nervous walking in the first day. Now I'm just glad not to be at the bottom of the ladder.
  • Visited Dad's Work

    Visited Dad's Work
This was really cool because my dad, who is an Electrical Engineer, works at a Nuclear Power Plant owned by the government. They gave us a tour of the plant and the turbines and we came right up to the doors for entering the actualy reactor. My dad even snuck me in to a private section to see the model reactor they use for training.
  • Had first 'Job'

The first paid work I did was shovelling snow for my neighbours. I just felt very Canadian doing it.
  • Drove to West Coast of Canada

Drove to West Coast of Canada
This was the second big road trip my dad took us on. We drove though Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia, and saw some really awesome stuff along the way. So now I've seen every province in Canada.
