    The Republican party is one of the two major political parties in the United States. The Republican party was formed by individuals with the desire to abolish slavery. The party was founded in 1854
  • The Indian Mutiny

    The Indian Mutiny
    The Indian Mutiny was an unsuccessful rebellion against British rule in India. The Indians formed this rebellion because of their disagreement with westernization and the way British ruled. Missionaries were also challenging religious beliefs of the hindus. The Mutineers would kill British Officers children men and women. The British later over through the Indians. 1857-1858
  • Caribou Gold Rush

    Caribou Gold Rush
    The Caribou Gold Rush took place in the Caribou Gold region between 1860 and 1863. It began when gold was discovered on the Horsefly river. When news spread of the riches many gold seekers went to the former fur trading territory. Many gold spots were found all around the area. The gold that was found in this area was later mined from1864 to the 1930's. The Caribou Gold Rush approximated 50 million dollars. The Caribou Gold Rush territory is British Columbia today.

After the British North American Act was passed Canada West changed its name to Ontario. The British North America Acts 1867–1975 are the original names of a series of Acts at the core of the constitution of Canada.
  • Movement For Womens Suffrage in Britain

    Women suffrage is the right for a women to vote. This was a movement in which many women protested and rallied to be given the right to vote. This movement started in 1872 women did not have the complete right to vote until 1918 and even then, women had to be 30 years or older who were householders, the wives of householders, and graduates of British universities. The first women rights international organization formed called The International Women Suffrage Alliance in 1904.

    Building the Canadian Pacific Railway
    The Canadian Pacific Railway was built to unify Canadian from coast to coast. The building of the railway is known to be one of Canada's biggest feats of engineering. The railway connects eastern Canada to British Columbia. The railway played an important role in building the nation. The railway was built in 1885 by thousands of people including fifteen thousand temporary Chinese workers.

    The Russians entered this war believing japan could never defeat them, this turned out to be a weakness. Russia Had been taking over many of China's land and had wanted to do the same to Japan. Russia wished to expand the Russian empire in Asia. The war between Russia and Japan lasted 18 months. Russia tried to take over Japanese land in Korea this is why the war started in 1904 and ended in 1905.

    In 1905 Albert Einstein determined the laws of physics are the same for all non accelerating observers and that the speed of light in a vacuum was independent of the motion of all observers. This was Einsteins theory of special relativity. Before this theory no one really knew how gravity worked.

    The South African Union was an act of 1909 that unified the British colonies of the Cape colony, Natal, Transvaland and Orange River. This established the union of South Africa. The law to do this passed on September 1909. The British Would profit from this union, but the native African's who were not consulted would suffer. This Union helped create what South Africa is today.
  • Chinese Revolution

    Chinese Revolution
    In October 1911 a group of revolutionaries in southern China led a successful revolt against the Qing Dynasty, which then established the republic of China and end the imperial system. Insurgents overthrew the dynasty after its 207 years ruling. the Qing Dynasty had failed to protect China from foreign aggression this is why the revolution was led. the revolution ended in 1912.

    World War 1
    The war broke out when Archduke Ferdinand heir to the throne of Austria was assassinated by a Serbian protestor in 1914. Austria Hungary declared war on Serbia. Later Russia, Germany, France, Britain and the USA were drawn into the great war. 70 million people fought, 10 million of them were killed including 7 million civilians. The war ended with the defeat of Germany who agreed to stop fighting on November 11 1918. The war was a total of 4 years.
