    There was a solid establishment of trading between Europe and Africa. This is an important event, because it led to the Berlin Conference. When Europe realized that Africa had plenty of natural resources, King Leopold II decided not to wait for those natural resources to be traded to them, but rather to divide Africa amongst the European nations and decrease the cost of transport back to their main land.
