The Monroe Doctrine was a U.S. foreign policy created by President James Monroe in 1823. It stated that the U.S. opposed further European colonization in the Western Hemisphere as well as any interferance with independent nations in the Western Hemisphere. -

The Boxer Rebellion began on Novemeber 2, 1899 when a secret chinese organization called the Society of the Righteous and Harminous led an uprising in Northern China against the spread of Western and Japanese influence.
