  • Chinas Government was Poorly Ran

    Chinas Government was Poorly Ran
My name is Wang Yongpo. I was very poor in China. I didn’t have a big house and lots of money. The government was very bad in China and we weren't being held strongly. The population was very big there but most people were looking for hard labor in America such as building the continental railroads.
  • Decided to come to America

    Decided to come to America
In 1881 I travelled to the United States of America at age 53. I came to America by sneaking on to a boat where I hid in the lower haul where baggage was kept. Some of the things that I brought there was a pocket knife, a satchel, glasses, a hat, a pair of shoes, and a week’s amount of clothing.
  • Arrived to America

    Arrived to America
When I first arrived in America I thought it was a beautiful place where freedom, land, and money could be found quickly. The Eastern side of America where people arrived such as Ellis Island was very populated so I knew that I had to make friends in order to get around and do well with my life. That is exactly what I did, I made many friends.
  • The Law of Chinese Naturalization

    The Law of Chinese Naturalization
In 1882 a law was passed and would be held for 10 years. The law was passed to prevent Chinese naturalization. Anyone that was coming from China was stopped from coming to America even if they were on a boat here. I was very thankful that I came before the law was made. I had met a friend named Bobby Charleston. We met getting of the boat docked on Ellis Island. He found two amazing horses named Smokey, and Star at a nearby farm a couple miles off Ellis Island. We used these horses and traveled
  • Arrived to the West

    Arrived to the West
I arrived to the West in 1884. The reason that I left the East side of America as soon as I possibly could was because it didn’t have a strong social, political, and economic government. On the other hand though, the West did. They had a very strong government and many job opportunities. Almost instantly when I arrived to the West, I found a job which was building the continental railroad. The job provided me food and shelter until I had enough money to build my own house.
  • Retirement

    Retirement
After a long 8 years of working for the railroad company, I had earned enough money to retire and build my own house. I was a veteran railroad worker because I had been working there for so long that I became loyal to them. I had earned a staggering 20,000 dollars over the years which gave me the opportunity to build a house, and of course stop working. I found myself some land left over from the railroad company that would have been used for immigrants and built myself a house.
  • Finished House

    Finished House
I finished my house in 1905. It was a beautiful house built near a stream, forest, and small city. Also another thing that happened about a week after my house was built was I met a woman named Elizabeth Chang. We met in a pub a couple miles off where my house was built. We fell in love almost instantly. It is never too late to fall in love because i did with her at the age of 67.
  • The Marriage

    The Marriage
July 25, 1906 is the most important date to me. It was the day that my wife Elizabeth Chang and I Wang Yongpo got married. We got married at a small church near the pub where we met so I thought it would be a good place to celebrate our marriage. Also, because I only used 2,000 dollars of my money after retirement to build my house; my wife and I used the rest of the 18,000 to pay of my our house, food, and clothing. My wife and I lived very happily.
  • Coming back from Retirement

    Coming back from Retirement
I decided that I didn’t want to be done with my life and I wanted to do more things that were life changing. I took charge in using my money to do good things. I added buildings to our city to make it a more populated place. Some of the buildings that I built to make the city bigger were a farm, some stores, restaurants, and pubs. It felt great to do something good.
  • My Death

    My Death
I died at age 86 in 1914. I was a very much remembered man to making a little city in the West, to populated, strong social, political, and economic place of freedom. A statue was built for me. The statue said, "An amzing man" (He did many thing to make this city so amazing.
