    Birth Date!
I was born in Tokyo, Japan on January 18,1900. I lived with my aunt all my life. I never met my parents or brothers and sister, if I even have any. My aunt is all I have. I want out of this country because there is poverty. No one has any food at all. California is the perfect place to go because there are so many oppurtunities.
  • Gets on Boat

Today my aunt and I got on a big boat taking us to Angel Island in California. The boat was packed with Japanese and other people I didn't know. They were letting everyone on, but they say not everybody will be able to stay in Califronia. Some people will have to return home if they are sick. I hope my aunt and I can stay. There is no room to move but I know America will be better than all of this.
  • Gets off Boat

I am completly on my own. My aunt died on the boat. She was just too old. I miss her so much. I don't know what I'm going to do. They almost sent me back to Japan because I am so depressed, but I am staying. I will find someplace to stay, but I am too young for this. I do not know how to live on my own.
  • Another Family Takes Her In

When I was walking around the docks today another boat was unloading. Some little boy found me and brought his parents to me. They spoke Japanese and I explained to them what happened. They lost a baby girl on the boat trip and asked if I wanted to live with them. They had a house already and jobs. I am so lucky they found me. I am happy.
  • Gets Job

Today I applied for a job as a seamstress at a nice factroy. My family said now that I am 16, I need to make my own money. They were so in need of workers, that they hired me on the spot. I will be making a good amount of money. They had some older girls teaching me. I am making mens pants right now, but maybe later I will make dresses or something.
  • Gets Maried

Today I am getting married! To an English man, at that. I never ever thought that would happen. But it did. I guess thats whats happens when you move to America; you marry an American. At first my family didn't approve, but now they do. I'm so happy I came to America because everything turned out perfect.
