    On the steamboat it was crowded and there were harsh conditions. As a result of this, we had to sit on the bottom level with another 3,000 people for one whole month.

    One day in the saloon one guy was admiring my singing, and afterwards he came up to me and told he wanted me to come sing with him at the San Francisco Opera House. As a result in this, I fell in love with him and was started my way to fame.
