  • Introduction

    Introduction
My name is Kyle Egan and I live in Ireland. I raise wheat crop for a living which doesn’t pay well. When tax was raised and I couldn’t pay, I decided to move to America to get a job so I could sustain myself.
  • Arival at America

    Arival at America
I have arrived at America and things haven’t been going too well. Immigrants are questioned thoroughly about what language we speak and many other things. The high security made it take a very long time to go through because there were so many people being questioned.
  • Rejection

    Rejection
Everywhere I go looking for a job I have been rejected because of my origin. I guess that in the 1860s immigrants aren't welcomed to the US. I survive off of what money I have brought with me but it won’t last much longer.
  • Found a Job

After my long search I found a small place where I was hired to be bartender, but for a small pay; enough for rent at a shabby little hotel.
  • Westward movement

    Westward movement
When walking to work today in the morning I overheard men chattering to each other about claiming large amounts of land in the west and so I decided to join the scramble for land. I started saving up some of my profits for when I went on my journey
  • Traveling west

    Traveling west
I finally have the money for the land I desired so I packed all my things and set off in search of land.
  • Purchacing Land

    Purchacing Land
I have finally reached the giant fields of the west and have purchaced my large share of it. I know I will live happily here growing crops and providing for myself
  • My New Home

    My New Home
With my new land I decided to grow wheat and raise animals.
During the winter I almost died of starvation and freezing to death but I managed to pull through. In the spring I work on my fields and tending to my animals. I can say that Life in the west is completely different than in Ireland.
