  • Born!!!!!

    Born!!!!!
I was born in italy. We left my home counrty in hope of a fresh start .
  • Boat ride

    Boat ride
The ride her was rather slow and not to mention i get sea sick. I came with my husband and little girl. But what made me forget about my sea sickness was that, in my head i thought of all the wonderful things we will see, and we wil start a new future for me and my husband and daughter. not to mention my super seamstress skills i hope to get a job involving sewing.
  • Arrival

    Arrival
I ttook us 6 weeks to get here. but we are finally here!! I can practically smell the opportunity in the air. But that could just be the smell of sweaty people in this cramped ellis island station.
  • Doctors examination

    Doctors examination
It took 4 days for these doctors to examine up. This is taking quite a while longer then i had expected. but the sad part is they wouldnt let my little girl come. She supposibley has pneumonia. But i kne for sure she didnt have it. So we send her home with my mother whom we saw at the entrance of the station. for my mother had fallen sick as well.
  • Re- meeting family members

    Re- meeting family members
My whole famiy had split up and was send to america on different boats. Me and my husband were separated at the station for examinations. I could see his fair hair and dark eyes waiting for me at the "kissing post". Accompanied by my brother.
  • Getting a job.

    Getting a job.
It took me about 6-7 years to get a stable job to help support our family. I got a job as a shoemaker. but Once chinese immigrants came they stole me and a family frineds jobs. This is upsetting for they work hard and pay less. there is definatley stong (bad) feelings toward these new immigrants.
