    Arriving at Ellis Island
I, Nora Klee Brunch, have arrived at Ellis Island after the long journey from Ireland, and am now going to get inspected. Though I am worried that I may have caught something on the ship, I am confident that I will pass the medical inspection. I also have all my forms and documents for the legal inspection, so I am sure I will pass that.

  • Labor and Aunt

    Labor and Aunt
I have found a job in an inn but now have to wait to find my aunt. I wanted to find my aunt as soon as possible to tell her all that has happened to my family, but now that has to wait because I need money. I would also like to stay with her because I am a foreigner.
  • Shoes on the Street

    Shoes on the Street
Today I found pair of unique-looking shoes on the street while walking home, so I went to the shop to have the man take a look at them. At first the man looked at me weird and he asked me if he could keep them. I let him keep them with the exception that I get them back in a week.
  • Boots Worth Money

    Boots Worth Money
I just found out that the pair of shoes I found are worth a lot of money, so now I don’t have to work my job at the inn. Now that I don’t have to work my job I can spend more time on trying to find my aunt. Also, now that I have more time to find my aunt, my anxiety levels will be going down.

    Confederate Attack!
The Confederates burned Aunt Annabel’s house down. Now we are living in an inn. The Confederates are an army against the Union in the Civil War and are against freeing slaves. The Confederates burned everything I brought to America including a necklace my mother had given me, a picture of my deceased family, and the clothes I wasn’t wearing when they burned the house.

    Hometead Act Passed
The Homestead Act was passed, so now Aunt Annabel and I are moving West. The Homestead Act is an act that is giving 160 acres of free land. We have been living in the inn for quite some time now and now we can get land in the West and I can farm.

We are now leaving the inn and are on our way to the West.I am very excited to be moving West because I can farm just like I did in Ireland. I can also get a working horse to help me on the farm.

    Aunt Died
Aunt Annabel grew ill and died. I don’t know exactly what she was sick from, but it had been very cold outside. I am now all alone; traveling alone.I had planned this whole trip with her and now I feel completley alone.
  • I Have Arrived!

    I Have Arrived!
I have finally arrived at my land and I have bought a horse. At last, after years of dreaming, my dream of living and feeling free has come true. The horse could be a great help for farming. He can be a working horse and I can ride him around on the land that I now own.
