13 days until my 20th birthday the potato famine is making the potatoes hard to grow potatoes. My family growns potatoes for a living so we can sell them and make money.

Ellis Island, New York City

Oct 31, 1910

I have finally arrived in Nee York. Everything is a lot different here than in Ireland We have to go through a lot of things just to be able to get into Ellis Island and able to go off and find jobs. And I meet Alannah Murphy while heading to my room, which I share with her.

Me and Alannah showed up and work and towards the end of the work day (I was on the 8th floor and Alannah was on the 10th floor) and a piece of scrap clothe on my floor caught on fire me and all the other girls on the 8th floor hurried to escape. We had no way to warn the girls on the floor above us

While and and the other girls on the 8th floor escaped, the girls on the 9th ad 10th floor were still trapped (inculding Alannah). Alannah panicked and didn't know what else to do so she jumped out the window so she didn't have to face a slow painful death.

Me and Brandon were walking along side of the ocean when he suddenly stopped in front of me and dropped to one knee. I had no clue what he was doing until he pulled out a ring a proposed to me. I know am known as Mrs. Brandon Moore. I am know the happiest girl in the world.

It's been exactly one year since Alannah has died. It's been so tough trying to get over the death of her, but she was my best friend. I was sitting out in the street when one day, a very handsome man by the name of Brandon came along and saw me crying,, And he sat there and comforted me until I stopped crying.

Packing

Since me and Brandon are now getting married, we are moving west so we can get away from the slums of New York. Me and Brandon have so much to pack, and since we have so much stuff, we have to take 2 different horse drawn cars to get to the train station tomorrow morning.

Brandon and I are all packed and ready to head West! I;m so excited my heat might just beat out of my chest. I never pictured me with a guy like him. This honestly feels like a dream come true.

I just found out I'm pregnant. I'm so happy words can't describe my happiness. It's been almost a year since me and Brandon have moved out here,and we still didn't hear anything from our families. I think after I have the baby, Me and Brandon are going to go and see if our families are okay.
