    Chapter 1 Part 1
    Gloria is playing hide-and-seek with her robot companion Robbie. Robbie can't talk but he shows emotion by the way he acts. He can make choices and decisions for what he wants to do. Gloria begins telling him a story, but is called to come back home and the robot isn't allowed to stay. Her mother doesn't like Robbie and her father does. We learn it is "impossible" for robots to harm humans due to the First Law of Robotics.

    Gloria's parents sell Robbie, and say he ran away. To try and get Gloria's mind off of him they take her to New York City on vacation. When they are at a museum Gloria sneaks off to a talking robot to ask if he has seen Robbie. She mentions him being a robot and he doesn't answer any more questions. Her parents decide to prove Robbie was not real by taking her to U.S. Robots. Robbie was there and Gloria ran towards him, but a tractor was going to hit her.

    Robbie pushed her out of the way from the tractor. Gloria's mom realized Gloria's dad meant for Gloria to see Robbie. But Gloria's mom decides he can stay. Susan Calvin explains that Gloria couldn't keep Robbie for long anyway because between 2003-2007 robots were banned for any use other than scientific. Calvin explains she joined U.S. robots in 2007. She begins to talk about the second Mercury expodition.

    Powell and Donovan are on Mercury and panic when they learn Speedy hasn't returned with the selenium. The selenium meant life or death to them. They decide to send the robots from the first expedition after speedy. Instead of sending them to the selenium they rode them to Speedy. When they found Speedy he wanted to play tag and ran away.

    Unfortuneatly, Speedy continued to run shortly after. Powell decided to risk his own life to see if the 1st rule would stop him. Luckily it work and they got the selenium
  • Chapter 2 part 2

    They realize that because they didn't put emphasis on the order to Speedy he would only run around the selenium pool due to the 2nd and 3rd Rule of Robotics cancelling eachother out. The two astronauts are stuck behind a mountain because they can't get the selenium themselves and neither can the older robots, and Speedy is running around the pool very quickly. Soon their suits will not be able to stand the heat. They broke the rut by throwing monocide at him.

    Because of an oncoming electron storm the Earth is in danger and Powell and Donavan cannot stop it without the engine room. When they try to get to the engine room Cutie stops them and claims they lost their function. The 2 decided to build a robot in front of Cutie to prove that they were his creater. Cutie still thought the parts they used were made by the master (the converter).

    1/2 a year later Powell and Donovan were on a space station to the first ever robot who was curious to it's own existense (Cutie). The robot didn't believe he was put together or the facts about outer space. Since he is superier to humans he believes that he was made by the converter. Cutie convinced the other robots in the station to treat the converter like a god. The robots no longer listened to the 2 humans. Cutie banned them from the engine room.

    Cutie keeps the beam focused saving Earth from harm and the humans decide there wasn't harm done from his beliefs. They leave.

    They used a detonator to shoot down one of the robots to gain Dave's attention. Dave then comes to their aid. They realize that the weight of their directives caused him to act the way he did.

    Donovan and Powell are talking to a robot named Dave. He didn't mine any ore, so they are giving him a test. There seemed to be nothing wrong with his positronic brain, but Donovan put him on the C-shift. Donovan and Powell then get in an argument on whether there is something wrong with Dave. Powell begins thinking that Dave is plotting an army. They spoke to one of Dave's "finger robots" who remembers they breaks from work that Dave caused when humans weren't around.

    The "finger" said an order would be sent, then another order would supersede it. There order was to march in formation. The pair watched the robots from a distance for 8 days. They deduced that they only stop when their is danger and their is no humans near. They decide that putting themselves in danger will fix them. Unfortunately, they became trapped in a cave-in. And where too far from the robot team to get their attention.

    Alfred Lanning Dr. Calvin, Ashe and Bogert are trying to figure out why a certain robot (Herbie) could read minds. They decide it is best to keep the existence of the robot a secret. Dr. Calvin talks to Herbie. He tells her Ashe loves her. They also discover Herbie is super smart but rather read romance than do math. Herbie also tells Bogert that Dr. Lanning has resigned. And that Bogert will be the next director. Lanning says he wasn't resigning and Ashe says he is getting married.

    In the end Herbie is outsmarted by the witt of Susan and the Robotic Laws.

    Susan Calvin and her team are asked to travel to hyper base to find a lost robot who was told to lose himself and took it literally. Susan decides to put the robots through a series of tests to decide who the lost robot is. She eventually finds out after a long process.
  • Chapter 7 part 1

    Chapter 7 part 1
    A rival company makes blueprints for a space ship that can do an interstellar jump, but their computer breaks when scanning it. U.S. robots use their super computer (the brain) to scan and build it. It seems perfect, but when Donovan and Powell try to overview it, the brain malfunctions and sends them to space with no showers beds or manual controls. Luckily, since the computer could not harm a human being they were only gone long enough to be perfectly healthy with the beans and milk.
  • Chapter 9

    Chapter 9
    In the final chapter Stephen Byerley is running for mayor, but Francis Quinn believes he is a robot because he isn't seen eating or sleeping. Susan tells him to eat an apple and he does. Robots can not eat or sleep so he is not a robot. This is supposed to show how it would be possible to do such a thing. He ends up winning the election.
