earthquake in costa rica
Whe this earthquake struck Costa Rica i was only 4 years old and i can still remember it like if it was yesterday. I was at my grandmas house at the time that it happened and i was outside playing with my grandmas dog when i felt it. My mom had came from inside to get me and i was frightened. It didnt hit us as hard as it did in other places but i was young and it was the first time i had ever felt an earthquake. It was the most frightning feeling i had ever encountered. -

around where the towers got struck and he video taped the whole thing while it was happening and to this day we still have the tape. In addition the sunday after what had happened, my family and i went to church where they continued to speak about this tragedy. i again began to cry becausse it hurt me a lot to think about all the people that lost thier lifes because of this event. -

This event affected me and my life because it was a huge tragedy for our country. I remeber the day this happened i was in elementary school and the teachers were told what had happpened and we were sent home early that morning. At the time i was confused because i wasnt sure of what was happening. When i got home my mom was extemely upset and she explained to me what had happened. i began to cry and as we watched it on the television i got even more devestated. My dad at the time was working -

This event affects my life because of the fact that it became very useful to me and my family. Before facebook i couldnt really communicate with my other family back in costa rica because it would cost money to be able to contact them. Once facebook got introduced i was able to contact my family in costa rica much easier and without a problem. It also effects me because with facebook i got more it touch with my friends because you can like one anothers pictures, posts and much more. -

This event affected me because i am catholic and it really affected my family. My grandma was really heart broken because he was a great person. Many families along with my family were torn when this event happened. Although i do like the new Pope i honestly feel that noone can ever replace him because he was a great man and he was one and only. He will remain in my heart forever and he will always be remembered. -

obama got elected as the president
When Obama got elected as president i remember i was in 8th grade and i was in my history class when my teacher was speaking about it. i was so happy that obama got elected because he is the first black president that the united states has had. This effects my life because he is my president and the changes he makes on the government will affect me aswell as the rest of my family. I personally didnt like president bush because i dont feel like if he ran things good. So i was happy when Obama it! -
micheal jacksons death
When micheal jackson died i was really upset because i was a really big fan of his music. I remeber that my dad would always put his music on at parties or any time during the day when he wasnt working and i would always enjoy listening to him. I loved the way that he danced and his personality. When he passsed away it not only affected me but it also hurt thousands of other people that were also his fans. It was a very sad event and he should and will always be remembered forever. -

volcano eruption in costa rica
About 2 years ago a volcano struck Costa Rica in San Jose. This event effected me because my family because my hometown was San Jose and my family got evacuated because it was dangerous to be where they were. I was really worried when i heard about it because i couldnt contact them at the time. My mom called me while i was in school to let me know and i couldnt wait to get home and watch the Costa Rican news and call Costa Rica to find out how my family was.Thankfully noone that i know got hurt. -
the earthquake in haiti
This earthquake that occured in haiti on my birthday was very devestating and a great tragedy. This event relates to my life because a close family friend that i have actually lost a sister during this catastrophic event and couldnt even go to haiti after she had found out the news because she doesnt have papers. It hurt me alot to imagine how she must have felt and till this day she is not the same person she was before this happened but for the most part she has recovered from the loss. -

out from the sink and the toilet in the basement. my family and i tried so hard to keep the water from entering but we got to a point where we just had to give up and leave the house. it was really sad and it will be an event that will stay with me for the rest of my life and the rest of my familys life aswell. -

wow what can i say? just thinking about this event makes me want to cry. When hurricane irene struck manville i slept in the living room the night before because my room was on the top floor and my mom was afraid that a tree could have fell on top of my room. I also remember that my family and i had prepared for this hurricane by putting tape on all of the windows and building a wooden door in front of the garage door. dad had nailed the doors that led to the actual basement shut. We never expected for the water to get as high as it actually did so we didnt put the stuff that was in the basement to the first floor. When i had woken up that morning in the living room everything was still good. A couple minutes later i realized that the water from the corner of the street was rising so i informed my mom and we began to bring stuff from the basement to the first floor. end of war in iraq
When the war ended in iraq i was extrmely happy because one of my family members were sent out to fight during this war and i was reallly happy to find out that he came back alive. His name is zyllian picado, he's always been like a brother to me and i love him so much.When he left i was really upset because i knew that it could have been the last time that i will ever see him and that hurt me so much. i give thanks to god for bringing him back alive and also that the war in iraq came to an end. -
obama and gay rights
When obama showed his support towards gay rights on may 9th of this year it meant a big deal to me because i have alot of friends that happen to be gay. The fact that our president supports gay people is a huge deal because it shows a big step towards the exceptance of gay people in the united states. This is very important to me because i believe that everyone should have the right to who they choose to love no matter what sex they are.
